After going through several cutlery sets that only got duller and duller over time, or just simply broke,
I went for this set and am VERY pleased.
Unbelievable quality at this price.
The knives are full tang, meaning the metal extends all the way to the end of the handle, not just riveted on.
So broken blades are a thing of the past.
(A knife from one "brand-name" set I previously owned, not "full tang", broke cutting cheddar cheese!)
Nice wooden storage block.
I would warn that these knives are SHARP. Handle with care
when you first use them. Especially the first time you happen to hand wash them.
Well worth the money.

At first I was hesitant to buy this due to the low price but after reading the reviews i was convinced. We have had this for the past 6 months and they work perfect. they are very sharp and might even cut your finger if you are not careful. they cut like butter through every food we throw at it. vegetables cut paper thin, scissors cut through chicken bones with ease. dont recommend washing in dishwaher as the handles may discolor. i always hand wash them and they turn our perfect. i highly recommend this as it works just as good as any italian or french european type of knife. i always read many reviews prior to buying and this product has not let me down yet so i give it my seal of approval.Customer Review: a worry-free option

I've had mine for a little over a year now. They were very sharp when new, but actually did start getting dull recently. The santoku is the worst of the bunch. Flimsy and with a traditional blade, it got dull after just a few uses. The shears cracked and fell apart last month. The steak knives are still great for that purpose. And I managed to find a cheap infomercial sharpener that restored a little life to the rest of the blades.
I guess all in all, that's a pretty negative review. But considering the price, I'm very satisfied. I never wanted the stress and expense of having to take care of a truly good set of knives. I'd buy these again without hesitation.

As a young couple we really love to cook and have been upgrading our kitchen. I saw these and thought hey for the money its worth the risk.
Meh.
Nice set at first but after one wash in the machine they dull up and then become rather ugly. So I decided to only Hand-Wash the other knives but they also soon dulled.
Another thing is that all the Knives are serrated except the Sontaku. It is really wierd to chop and dice vegetables with serrated knives. Maybe I'm just inexperienced in the kitchen but the serrated bottoms are not typical I believe.
If your looking for new knives I'd look into a different set.

I bought these knives a few weeks ago so that I would have a nice knife set when I move into my new apartment next month. These knives are in storage right now, but they seemed incredibly sharp when I opened them upon arrival. They are attractive knives and seem like they will stand the test of time. I am a college student and on a tight budget, and I priced knife sets at numerous places before I bought these. The Ginsus were a great buy for the price. Most retail stores charge $40+ for their cheapest sets, and these are far superior in quality than all of the cheaper sets I looked at. I can't wait until I move so that I can start using them!
