Customer Review: Happy with the whole set
Summary: 5 Stars
No problems until today. I put a large spoonful of recently boiled white rice onto a large plate when it cracked in my hand. It did not fall apart or shatter but cracked from the edge of the plate to the middle of the plate, its garbage now. It's a shame because the set was holding up well. It resisted scratches, chips or any other visible wear and tear. (I don't use sharp knives often) Heating in the oven and banging them around during cleaning in the sink caused no problems. A room temperature plate receiving very hot rice should not break a good quality plate.
The solid black portion is smooth but not slippery. The bottom area that will contact the table is unglazed, still smooth, allowing any piece in the set to resist sliding around when being used. The dark red portion is an attractive mix of dark red and black and has a little texture to it.

Large Plates - Huge plate with a high rim. Nothing is going to slop out of this plate. 3 Cups
Small Plates - Very adequate. The bowl fits well on the small plate but will slide some. 1 2/3 Cups
Bowls - Not to big and not to small. The rim has a nice angle up making for a bowl with nice depth. 4 Cups
Cups - Fantastic. The handle fits so nicely when being held. Perfect. 1 2/3 Cups
Each piece is thick and feels solid. The plates are easy to clean due to the smooth finish. I have only been using, cleaning and banging them around for a week but so far have not seen any scratching, chipping or premature wear.
Summary - Solid. Attractive. (The red and black mix is hard to describe but it really is a nice looking feature giving the set some personality) I am very happy with the set and hope they hold up. I will update in 3-6 months depending on wear and tear.
