Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of George Foreman Omelet Plates for the G5 George Foreman GrillCustomer Review: Just got this, So Glad I did. Summary: 4 Stars
I ordered these plates yesterday (free shipping. Im lucky to live near the distributor). They were very cheap and the only thing I havent been able to make on my g5 was successful omelets. I had been making a mess of my omelets on my normal baking plate due to the uneven heating of the element and frankly, Im not that skilled in making eggs. This makes it so easy, I was very happy how quickly and mess-free my first batch of eggs came out.
Pros:
Super quick, evenly cooked omelets for very fast breakfast. The book says 4 minutes on high, but mine cooked thoroughly at around 75% heat in 3 minutes.
I can cook 2 omelets and prepare sausage or something else in another compartment, completely separate.
I havent tried baking with this yet, but I am excited to try. Small things like tacquitos could probably be pan-fried nicely.
Comes with a small recipe book for some good ideas.
Cons:
Wish the indents were a little bit deeper for more versatility.
Even after washing thoroughly, there was a smell of fumes off the new plates, probably some protective chemical burning off. I think the same happened with the other plates.
At this time, the plates are very inexpensive, its a good investment for anyone who does a lot of cooking on their foreman like me, and likes eggs. My most useful home appliance is even more useful now.
Customer Review: Love my George! Summary: 5 Stars
When I buy a product I like to use it as much as I can to justify the purchase. This is why when I decided on the George Foreman The Next Grilleration G5 I just had to get the omelet/snack plates to go with it. I have certainly not been disappointed. The grilleration sits on my counter so that I can use it often, which I do. Love the easy to use, easy to clean choice of plates. I was pleasantly surprised at the way the omelets come out with the omelet plate. It's not the usual shape of omelets but once I got past that I realized how easy and good the ones cooked with my George Foreman actually were. I've even made cornbread with the omelet plates and it turned out to be quick and easy. Looking forward to years of enjoyment of the grilleration and to many easy omelets with the omelet/snack plates.
Customer Review: Excellent Addition to your G5 Plate Collection Summary: 5 Stars
These plates are awesome! I made bean burritos last night for dinner and CA omlettes for breakfast this morning. The box showed a picture of brownies baking. Can't wait to try that too! Stuffed pancakes...Mmmmm. If you're having as much fun using your G5 George Forman grill as I am, then order these plates today. One of the reviewers rated this a -1 because it didn't come with a recipe book. I don't see that as a negative. One ladle full of batter fills the oval, down goes the lid and da-da! Brownie batter, eggs, egg whites, pancake batter, individual dessert servings. I made apple crisp yesterday. How nice it would look on plate to have individual apple crisps served with a scoop of ice cream. Very nice presentation. In other, words use your imagination and have fun!
Customer Review: Love It!!!!!!! Perfect Omelets! Summary: 5 Stars
I love this exrta plate for my grill!!! First off, I love the G5! use it for everything, and this makes it even better!!!! At first, after reading some of the reviews about how the egg gets all over the counter, and how you can't put more than one egg in if you want veggies, or meat in your omelet, it made me second guess if I really want to by it or not, I did. I got it, used it, two eggs, cheese and veggies each omelet!!! perfect!! All you do is put the egg in first then place the veggies in there, so you can see when enough is enough. We are really happy with this item. In four mins we had breakfast!! I deff recomend this to anyone who loves the G5! Don't let the bad review scare you, I'm glad I didn't!!!!
Customer Review: They work fine, but not really necessary. Summary: 3 Stars
Got these at the same time I bought the grill. With the additional amazon $25 discount for spending $125, it seemed like a good idea.
However, after making omelets in both the Omelet Plates, and the Baking Plates, I prefer the latter. I like my omelet folded, with the cheese and other fixings in the middle. With the Omelet Plates, you place the eggs and other fixings in the oval indentations. While cooking, it puffs up considerably. You then sprinkle cheese on top after it is done. It tastes fine.
I would wait until you have used the basic plates before you decide you need the Omelet Plates.
