Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of George Foreman GRP4 Next Grilleration 72 Square Inch White Removable Plate GrillCustomer Review: A fishy issue Summary: 4 Stars
I have been wanting a George Foreman grill ever since I got married and moved out of my parents. This grill inticed me with it's removable plates. I find other grills to be impossible to clean. I never clean it, so I never use it.
My husband and I have used this grill several times now. We've cooked bacon, chicken, veal, and fish on it. The bacon never really got crispy (could be do to the fact it was turkey bacon). The chicken and veal came out excellent. The fish fillets, ont he other hand, had issues. I suppose since fish aren't too greasy to start with, they dried out on the grill. Not only that, but it stuck to the non-stick surface. We had to scrape our fish off of the grill. It was sitll pretty good, but we're going to use cooking spray or butter next time.
I'm still bad about cleaning it even though it is simple.
I wish that it had an on/off button instead of being instantly on when plugged in. I'd like to turn it off rather than pulling the plug.
Customer Review: Nice upgrade of an oldie... Summary: 5 Stars
I had the original GFG for the past 5 years, and considered it the best small appliance any bachelor can buy, but some of the non-stick surface has fallen off b/c I'm not religious about cleaning it right after use, and the sponge I used scrubbed some of the surface off. Anyway, I bought the GRP4 to replace it since I'm now cooking for 2 (my fiance) or more (and friends), and it's been almost as effective as the old GFG, but MUCH easier to clean with the upgrade to removable plates. Now, I said almost because it doesn't heat up as quickly as the original, but I imagine that's due to the fact there's some energy loss because the plates ARE removable (simple physics). What it amounts to, so that my meats get done in 12 minutes instead of 10 minutes (approximation, not an exact number), which is something I can live with given how convenient this grill has been for me. I would buy this product in a heartbeat if I had to replace it, and it's a great housewarming gift!
Customer Review: This Forman Grill is even better! Summary: 4 Stars
Our George Forman 2 burger grill finally wore out and it was time to shop for a new one. I hoped that by now there would be an upgrade to the product that would have removable grills for easier cleaning, and was I one happy camper that this GRP4 model had just that. At first we balked that it was bigger than our other grill for just us two, but it worked out perfect as we also like grilled veggies and now all can be done in one batch with this model. The removable grill plates just took a couple tries to figure out how to seat them so they'll lock in correctly. We discovered with our first couple of uses that you have to let the grill heat up completely (wait for the indicator light to go out) or the top grill will not be as hot as the bottom and so of course will not grill as well as it is supposed to. But it is working great so far plus with easier clean-up of removable plates this grill is being used even more than the old one.
Customer Review: If You Marinate It Will Taste Good!! Summary: 4 Stars
I don't do the cooking with this grill. My job is to clean it and before this we had the grill that did not have removable grills and it was hard to clean. It took me forever to scrub it that I was tempted on many occasions drop it on the floor in hopes it would break so I wouldn't have to scrub and clean it anymore! so when we got this new grill and I was able to remove the grills it was so much better and easy to clean and I love the new grill!
Some reviewers are complaining about their food not tasting good and I think that some of those reviewers are expecting to just throw on a piece of meat, chicken or fish and it's magically going to taste great.
PEOPLE: You have to marinate the food first with a tasty marinade sauce that is either home made or a prepackaged store made marinade. Just let whatever you are going to cook soak in the maranade for a while and your food should taste great!
Customer Review: Not nearly as nice as the earlier ones Summary: 3 Stars
I just bought this grill as I love the little one I have, but wanted one a little bigger and the "removeable plates" idea really appealed to me. I figured you could pop them into dishwater while you're eating and a cinch to take care of. First, there's no timer on this grill, which is a feature I dearly love on my smaller one. Second the removable plates aren't all they're cracked up to be. It takes too long to pre heat and because it doesn't get as hot, it takes longer to cook the food, which results in the food not tasting as well. I ended up getting the GR26TMR model, which is family size with a timer and plates the same as the original. Absolutely fantastic!! This one still only takes 5 minutes to pre-heat & cooks your food in the same amount of time as the smaller one. As for cleaning, throw some wet paper towels on it & close the lid. By the time you finish your dinner it's practically cleaned itself.
