Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of George Foreman GR26CB Family Size Plus Grill with Cookbook, WhiteCustomer Review: Disappointed Summary: 2 Stars
I bought the basic model grill and was disappointed. There is no temperature gauge, no "on/off" switch, no removable parts for cleaning. We have used it 3 times - for steak, burgers and shish kebobs. One half of the grill cooks faster than the other - probably because of the lid that "floats" on its hinges to accommodate different thicknesses of meats. And there was a lot of smoke (as some reviewers have said). I like the non-stick surface, but it would be nice to be able to get it in the sink to clean off the mess. I also like the slanted angle and the fact that the grease drains off. I had thought that I would be happy if I bought the better (more expensive) model - but decided I will wait to use my outdoot gas grill next time instead.
Customer Review: Quick & Easy Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned this George Foreman grill for a few months now and have used it quite a bit. It's small enough to grill for one and big enough to grill for four. I have followed a few of the recipes included and the meals are very tasty. I only use HALF the black pepper suggested in his recipes because he really likes his black pepper much more than I.
I DO have one suggestion for eating your meal while it's still hot. Unplug the grill after you're done grilling. Wet a couple of paper towels and sandwich them between the top and bottom grills. This keeps the cooked residue from hardening while you eat your meal. The heat and wet paper towels keeps the grill moist and so much easier to clean after you've finished eating.
Customer Review: It's so good he's put his name on it. Summary: 4 Stars
Seriously, I may brag, but I really ain't no good cook. I find it a total nightmare cooking stuff in an oven and finding the correct cooking times for meats of different shapes, colors and sizes. I was the worst at bacon. I like bacon sandwiches but it made a mess of my oven and I always burnt it. But with the George Foreman grill all that doesn't matter anymore. It'll cook a steak perfectly in 5 minutes. Bacon can be done in 2-3 minutes with little or no mess at all.
Just make sure you properly defrost stuff beforehand. Otherwise you'll have a rare inside with a tough and dry outside. A little practice with this will turn the crappest of cooks into gormet chefs no doubt. It'll even make toasties. What more do you want?
Customer Review: Pretty good, very convenient Summary: 4 Stars
This unit was purchased to replace a nearly identical George Foreman grill that croaked about 6 months ago after being used for ~4 years. We liked and used the first one frequently and missed it enough to warrant purchasing another.
This grill is perfect for preparing grilled sandwiches and quick dinners (chicken, pork, steak) when time is of the essence. Its big enough to cook for a family of 4, but yet small enough that its not intrusive on space. Cleanup can be a bit of a chore (depends on what you cook), but even that's not too great a burden.
Amazon's price was about the best I could find, and it arrived with free shipping in a little over a week. Overall a good value and no regrets.
Customer Review: Infomercial fare gone good... Summary: 5 Stars
I used to see this thing late at night and think "what a joke". Then I received one as a Christmas gift. I thought about returning it but decided to give it a shot. What a surprise! Tried 1.5" thick pork tenderloins first. Cooked through perfectly in eight minutes and tasted unbelievably good. Since then I have tried nearly all of my normal summer grilling recipes with great success. Now, results are not as good as charcoal, but this is a little grill that sits on your counter. That said, results are better than imagined. You do have to take a little more time with things of varying thicknesses, but it is a small price to pay to be able to grill during the winter without catching pneumonia.
