Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of George Foreman GR20WHT XL Grill

Customer Review: A little learning curve, but very awesome!
Summary: 5 Stars

Initially you might be somewhat disappointed with your grilling, but some tips might be:

1) Slice everything as evenly as you can, the grill cooks in 2 directions, if one side is off, the top part of the grill won't cook some of your food evenly

2) If you can't slice evenly, watch your food and flip/stir from time to time to promote even cooking

3) Don't put too much chili pepper in whatever you cook (this applies no matter what you use, but on my first grill attempt my stomach hated me the rest of the day) :-)

Other than that, this is an awesome way to cook once you get used to it!! In my opinion it grills chicken better than any outdoor grill. I can also cook veggies that don't fit on the grill which taste just awesome! If I weren't on a diet right now, I'd try steak and burgers too, but I digress...

Customer Review: College Student's DREAM!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the single greatest gift you could give to a college student. With two slices of bread, and a slice of cheese, an amazing grilled cheese in just a few minutes! And if you get the motivation to go shopping and have the dollars to spend on a steak, it will taste just as good as mom's home coking! (Well, it will be closer than dorm food, that's for sure)

What it comes down to is ease of use & cleanup. And that is where the George gets its 5 stars. This wonderful invention eliminates mess, is easy to clean off with just a sponge...and has a great drip tray to eliminate spills.

I really recommend this to college students, but also swinging bachelors, soccer moms, and hectic CEO's. Anyone without lots of spare time to spend slaving over a stove...this is the way to go!

Customer Review: Fast dinners, perfectly cooked
Summary: 5 Stars

I kept seeing this in SkyMall and finally bought it, partly out of curiosity. I'd used a normal grill pan before with good success. This thing works much better--the infomercials are correct about the two-surface heat cooking more evenly and preventing burning. It's kind of pain to clean, since you can't submerge it, but if you wipe it off soon after cooking it's easier to get the gunk off. I used it all the time until I got married--then I bought the larger version so I would have enough room to cook for 4 (this one is only big enough for 2). One caveat: it works better with boneless meats. Bones tend to hold the cooking surface away from the meat.

Overall, it's one of the best time-saving appliances I've encountered (my rice cooker/veggie steamer is also right up there).

Customer Review: not just for meat
Summary: 5 Stars

OK - everyone knows it's great for meats. If you want to cook for a crowd sometimes, get 2. Then you only use one when it's just the 2 of you. I also discovered that it makes the best grilled cheese ever - no fat needed or go ahead if you want. Try it once and you will eat grilled cheese for a week - then go crazy making all kinds of grilled melts and sandwiches. - Idea - after I take off the burgers, turn the buns inside out and put them in the grill for just a few seconds - toasts em just right. I also tried baking canned biscuits in there - kinda like a fritter. fold them over with stuff inside before baking. It is great for meats at breakfast - no mess. I made an egg on it by putting a hole in a slice of breat and breaking the egg in the middle. Close the lid and cook.

Customer Review: Incredible Product
Summary: 5 Stars

Simple to use. Quick. Easy to clean up. Makes food taste delicious. Quality construction. I use this to prepare 4-5 meals a week - and am never disappointed. It makes delicious chicken, burgers, grilled sandwiches, fish, steaks, vegetables, quesadillas, fajitas, etc... I love the fact that there are no complicated switches or settings, just plug it in and get cooking. What a relief from todays overly complicated world. I received my grill as a gift, and now it is my gift of choice to others. Those who receive it may at first have hesitations (George Foreman grill - wasn't that on a cheesy infomercial?), but once they use it - they absolutely love it. My only complaint is that it is a little small to cook for 3 or 4 people - the larger model maybe the way to go.
