Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of George Foreman GR20WHT XL Grill

Customer Review: Received as a gift
Summary: 2 Stars

Nearly everyone has seen this grill in action at a friends or on television. It is a quick and easy way to cook without a lot of fat and calories. Sounds great.

Well, I've given this thing a whole bunch of chances and what I can say is...Scallops, Sirloin Tips, Steak...all get seared on the outside and stay raw inside. There is no temperature control so its hotter than Hades or cold grill. Bugers taste great, but watch them carefully.

Now, cleaning up is a royal pain. The non-stick surface cannot get scratched or its all over...so clean the non-immersable surface with a soft cloth or paper towels. There are nooks and crannies all over the appliance. The white outer surface gets greasy and smudged.

Other than eating grass clippings or vegetables, nothing is safe or healthy says the experts. So if you need red meat grilled there are plenty of other options. The novelty of this grill wears out too fast.

Sorry George.

Customer Review: Nice Product
Summary: 4 Stars

When the Mrs came home with one of these things - I thought to myself, "great, something else we can add to our museum of unused kitchen appliances. There's a spot for it next to the cusinart."
This time I was wrong. Throw a slab of meat in, and presto - perfect juicy, sans grease. I'm actually eating better, and sticking to South Beach Diet due to this. Fresh ground turkey, throw in some olives, sliced mushrooms. Grease and fat drains right out. I find I use this far more often than the frying pan. It's just better for certain types of foods. It cooks food evenly and is never greasy. Some say it's hard to clean but I disagee. It's no where near a bad as a dirty, sticky pan.

It also has a great build quality. Simple but terrific product. The exception to the infomercial = junk rule. Ranks higher than the microwave in my book. Every kitchen needs one.

Customer Review: By George! It Works!
Summary: 4 Stars

My oldest son wanted our family to eat more healthy. Ok, that refreshing change of speech from a teen, in the land of fast food drive thru mantras caught me off guard. And was propulsion enough to give George a try. And it works! I mean, did I doubt George Foreman? Would he put his name to anything that was not tried and true just to feed his tribe? Nahhhhh.

Smiling....now my son likes to take over kitchen duty and grill up some skinless chicken breasts with onions and peppers. I like the way it stays out of the way until you want to grill some burgers in a flash. Cleanup is not so bad. You do need more than a paper towel & for goodness sake, line up the drip pan correctly!

A fun useful product, And the video with recipes which came along with it is worh a gander. Well done George--or is it medium rare?

Thanks for your interest & comment votes--CDS

Customer Review: Eat smart!
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased the George Foreman GR20CB XL Grill on a recommendation from a friend and Im very glad I did.

The grill is perfect for barbecuing steaks, chicken, hamburgers, fish, and vegetables when the weather is too poor to do so outside. However, its a little small. Only two steaks or chicken breasts can fit on it at one time. If you are cooking for a family a larger version is available.

I think this grill would be great for college students in dorms (if they're allowed to cook in theirs) or those who live in apartments or condos and cannot have regular barbecues.

One of the great features of grilling is that most of the fat drips away, leaving you with leaner healthier cuts of meat. Since this grill cooks very quickly it sears the meat and locks in all the flavor.

I only wish it had a longer cord and an on/off switch.

Customer Review: A knock-out product.
Summary: 5 Stars

The small version of George's grill is a bit small for my wife and I. It is more suitable to cook single portions of meat, but nevertheless this is an excellent product. The solid drip pans make clean up easy, while it keeps the fat out of your diet.

Meat cooks quickly and it retains most of it's juices. You can also cook vegetables, fish, chicken, pork, beef, etc..., and warm up tortillas! The surface is cleverly angled, which helps drain the grease/fat away from the meat. The recipe possibilities are endless and a clever cook and devise new quick dinners - using this grill.

Overall the durability, dependability and ease of cleaning make this a must have for people who are on the go! The nonstick surface makes the clean-up go much faster then cleaning up a pan after a piece of meat was grilled on it.
