Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of George Foreman GR20WHT XL GrillCustomer Review: Can change your life (Well at least mine) Summary: 5 Stars
This is probably the greatest kitchen appliance I have every bought. I am pretty busy and cooking dinner always seemed too much time and effort, so most of the time I ate out, ordered out or ate TV Dinners until I got the George Foreman Grill. First you can cook anything in less than 15 mins. (5 mins. to warm up and 8 mins. to cook). Second it cooks everything to perfection - So far I have cooked Chicken, Hamburgers (Even Veggie Burgers), Pork Chops, Steak, and Salmon and nothing has burned or tasted anything less than great. The timer helps with stopping things from burning and the user manual is right on for cooking times for each meat. This grill is perfect for 2 people think cooking for more than 2 is asking too much for this size grill. So now I just head to the Grocer on Sunday buy several types of meat and fish for the week, some vegetables and some different rice or potatoes side dishes and with a little effort I have a full meal in less than 20 mins. I have gone from cooking a full dinner maybe once a week to cooking dinner 4 or 5 times a week now. I am actually saving some big bucks now.
Customer Review: Makes the best chicken breasts ever Summary: 4 Stars
Easy cooking - easy clean-up. I love my George Foreman Grill - I bought this larger size after buying the smallest one that holds just 2 burgers. Chicken breasts are the very best thing to cook; the chicken is tender and juicy and just takes a few minutes. It's also good for making grilled cheese sandwiches or paninis on the thin side, you don't even have to butter the bread, so it's a great way to reduce the fat in your cooking. I wouldn't be without mine.
Also, it's very easy clean-up - but that had a learning curve to it -- I hated the clean-up before I figured this out. I found the best way to clean this since the grill plates are not detachable is to hold it by the lid (open) over the edge of the sink, squirt some Dawn on the bottom plate, scrub with one of those Teflon-friendly scrubbers and then rinse with the sink's spray attachment.
I would have to say the only thing I don't like about it is there should be a way to "attach" the drip pan to the grill. Sometimes it slides away and the fat drips onto the counter top.
Customer Review: A Great Buy! Summary: 5 Stars
The george foreman grill cooks the meat crispy on the outsideand juicy on the inside. Just don't stick a sauce with too much sugaron your meat otherwise you will get burnt meat. The fat really doesrun away from the food. You will see this and think how nasty it was that you were eating all this extra fat before. Eat healthy. It cooks sausage, fish, chicken, and steak beautifully. Clean up is not as easy as they make it seem, but it is bearable. Just clean carefully with soapy water then rinse with warm water. The grill is sloped down so the water runs off easily. If you put the grill next to the sink then you can just let the water run in there. Only the new model has on off and temperature control switches. You just plug it in and it starts warming up. Cooking that is healthy and easy. Ideal for a college student or a family. I have a medium size one with the bun warmer. My mom has this one and she loves hers. Buy this and you won't be disapointed. Just looking at the grill is making me hungry.
Customer Review: You will buy one of these - it's just a matter of when. Summary: 5 Stars
It's just a matter of time before you get one of these. You can take control of the situation and purchase one now, for yourself, or wait until one tracks you down in the mail from a well meaning relative making the cycle of co-dependence complete. My Mother bought one, and thereafter guiltied sibling after sibling into joining her on a George Foreman rampage. She told my friends, who thereafter bought one, and then she worked on my boyfriend, who bought two, the little one and the big one, because. I did not want one - I had enough stuff on my counter. I did not want anything George Foreman said would make anyone loose "weight" or was "healthy", because it did not make sense to me for him to say so. Then my boyfriend brought up the point that bratwurst were not healthy but tasted really good when he grilled them on either the big grill or the little grill. So late one night, I bought one. And they all rejoiced and directly shut up about it. It really is very good!
Customer Review: There must be something wrong with me... Summary: 1 Stars
...but I do NOT like the way this thing cooks. Chicken comes out dry, steak comes out burned outside and raw inside; it does a decent job on thick fish steaks and vegetables like parsnips, but only if you watch it like a hawk because if you let it go just half a minute too long the food is inedible. Maybe I just never got a taste for that barbecue-charred taste that so many people seem to worship but I'm going back to using my oven broiler. Oh, and it's a NIGHTMARE to clean! The provided "safe" scraper tool doesn't fit the grillpan grooves and if you use anything else you'll scrape the Teflon right off. You HAVE to clean it while it's still at top heat and you'll use an entire roll of towel doing it (and probably burn your fingers). Don't even bother trying to clean it if it's started to cool down. After a few uses, both grill pans had a worn, burned patch in the center, which was impossible to clean at all. No wonder this is one of the cheapest contact grills on the market.
