Customer Review: The George Foreman Grill really does "cut the fat" from food

This is easily the best "As Seen On TV" product ever made (I'd like to see Ronco top this marvelous machine). As I am writing this review, I am eating boneless skinless chicken breasts that were made on the George Foreman "Champ" Grill". They are so good that words cannot describe how good they are...just sprinkle some "Mrs. Dash 'Table Blend'" on the chicken breasts before you cook them, put them on the grill, and have a great chicken dinner (only other thing you have to do is find something to go along with the chicken [maybe some white rice]). Cleanup is so easy it's ridiculous! The nonstick surface allows you to clean the grill surface with a soft clean cloth or sponge (dampened with warm water, of course), and the drip tray can go in the dishwasher. Just yesterday I prepared some turkey burgers (from Wampler Foods) on the grill, and it is amazing how much fat will be drained from turkey burgers (even though turkey meat has less fat that ground beef [which is what hamburger patties are made of], it still has fat). Who should order this item? Well, in my family, I am the only one who eats meat. After cooking something for my husband and child, I often need to make a fast meal for myself. I can pop a hamburger or porkchops in this machine and have something to eat in a few minutes.
A very good point about this grilling machine is it can be used in the heart of the summer and doesn't heat your kitchen up like your oven or toaster oven. You don't have to stand over a pan splattering with grease like when you fry a hamburger. The fat drips into the tray.
I use it mainly for hamburgers, pork chops, and making sandwiches. I did not like how it made bacon, however. I purchased this as an alternative to a "sandwich maker" which are basically limited and VERY hard to clean. I'm very pleased with it.
The clean up is a pain but you have to have a system. When the food comes off, have a bunch of damp papertowels handy and swipe it right away. Just eat and clean it with a damp sponge. It's not rocket science. If you leave grease in your frying pan too long, that's hard to clean, too!

I'm a meat-eater (and concur with the opinions expressed in the other reviews), but my boyfriend is a vegetarian and I have found many creative uses for my George Forman grill. For example, place slices of asparagus, zucchini, portobello mushrooms, red onions, or peppers on the grill. In five minutes, the vegetables will be moist and grilled to perfection. I like to serve with a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I have also used the GFG for delicious grilled tofu, grilled veggie burgers, and grilled cheese sandwiches. When I make stir-fried dishes that require tofu, i grill the tofu on the GFG before adding it to my stir-fry. It really enhances the flavor. My warning is that when cooking the items i just described, some oil must be used -- either directly on the grill (I like Pam) or in the form of a pre-grill marinade. Much of it will drain off and it prevents the veggies from sticking on the grill. My other warning is that marinade ingredients such as soy sauce can caramelize or burn on the grill. All that said, I love my GFG and have been recommending it to everyone I know!Customer Review: Consider the XXL version unless you live alone

To be honest I was sold on this product at 2am via George himself on the television. I was subsequently shamed by my girl friend for my lack of self control and it was recommended that I move the phone and tv into separate rooms. However, the tables have turned drastically since the arrival of said grill. We have done hamburgers (5 stars), chicken sausages (4 stars), many vegetables (4 stars) with very good success. I am a cooking snob and other than a rice cooker I tend to avoid gadgets in the kitchen and stick to hand tools. What this does for me is give a VERY LOW MESS way to cook hamburgers during the winter (8 mos of 12 here in Chicago). I would buy it for that alone.
The reason I would recommend XXL version is that this is a fun (no joke, good kitchy (ha) entertainment) appliance when you have guests, and you need surface area to cook at least 4 burgers (or mushrooms or cheese sandwiches, etc). I think using the jr version would feel like you were working an assembly line.
Lastly, this makes a great gift for the completely incompetent cook as well as others.
