Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of George Foreman GGR50B Indoor/Outdoor Grill

Customer Review: A great grill;
Summary: 4 Stars

I really like this grill because of the convenience and ease of use. I used this grill all winter long and it performed wonders. The set up took minutes and you do not need tools to put it together or to take it apart. It heats up quickly; the food cooks quickly and clean up is a breeze. I like how big the dome cover is because you can put a whole chicken on the grill and forget it.

It is great to have a barbeque through out the winter because it makes winter seem less depressing. This is a great feeling.

What I do not like; it eat a lot of power, some times causing my circuit box to trip and there is no rack to keep certain foods warm while others cook like a traditional out door grill. It is electric. There is nothing like a charcoal flame for barbequing.

People who have harsh winter and who live in apartments and can appreciate this grill.

Enjoy

Customer Review: A Real Grill
Summary: 5 Stars

Several years ago we purchased the original GF grill (the one with the press-down lid). It was more a panini grill, we did not like it, and we immediately returned it.

This one, however, is a real grill. We've cooked everything on it that we typically do with our outdoor Weber grill in the summer months.
- kebab skewers
- chicken breasts
- hamburgers
- salmon
- tuna
... etc.

It's perfect. It's big enough to lay a whole side of salmon on one half, and several chicken breasts on the other. The lid is really important, helping to retain the moisture of the items cooking, with minimal fumes/smoke released. And I really like that the grill seperates easily from the base. I store it in a corner on the base, and I lift it off and place it on the counter when I use it.

Cleans up relatively easily too!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Customer Review: Many uses
Summary: 5 Stars

I have purchased lots of kitchen gadgets in my lifetime, but this one by far is the most worth the money.

First, the food you cook on the grill does not taste like a BBQ pit grill, but that is fine with me.

I promote this grill to everyone I know, esp. those who have families or who are struggling with weight issues because a. it is a great way to cook lots of food (much better than the smaller grills), 2. you can check for doneness, add spices etc c. the grill has adustable heat settings so you can cook different foods, d. living in Texas it is important that you find a way to cook without heating up the house, e. if you cook items on a low heat you dont have to stand right over it, f. clean up is so easy.

Dont limit yourself to just foods that you would BBQ, I make chicken wings (no need to defrost them-just set the heat to low) and GREAT fish and veggies on it!

Customer Review: Some flaws but actually pretty Good
Summary: 4 Stars

We were given this as a gift and my husband was skeptical at first but since we had a smaller Foreman Grill he decided to give it a chance. It works similar to a stove top grill. Because you do not have an upper heating element, if you leave the lid off it will take substantially longer to cook meat than the other foreman grills. Unfortuately, the grease does not drain as well as you would expect so that when you are done you will have to "push" the grease into the holes to drain (sort of defeating the healthy food claims of the foreman grills). It does take awhile to heat up. Last, this is not something that can be set out in the open on a patio. We have it in our garage.

All the bad stuff aside, it cooks up a lot of burgers at one time. It is easy to clean with it's removable grill and grease trap. If you are looking for a grill (not a bbq - this is not a bbq) this is a great alternative.

Customer Review: Nearly Perfect
Summary: 4 Stars

Lots of reviews already, so let's not waste your time:

Pros:
- easy to setup (no waiting for charcoal or having to buy propane)
- easy to clean
- practical. U can use it indoor/outdoor
- No flames, so it's quite hard to actually burn the food

Cons:
- Doesn't cook the food 100% evenly. Noticed that the area around the thermostat is hotter. Not by much though, but you can notice the grill marks on the food stronger when near the thermostat
- Doesn't get really really hot. If you're trying to cook Brazilian style (large chunk of meat), it might not work out. However, it's great if you cut it into smaller chunks of meat.

Overall:
I love this so much that some days I use this for lunch and for dinner. There are no pans to clean. Only reason I don't give 5 stars is because it's not even throughout the whole plate.
