Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of George Foreman GGR50B Indoor/Outdoor Grill

Customer Review: Best electric patio grill
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the the third electric patio grill I've purchased and the second George Forman. When I moved to Florida, I purchased another brand from Home Depot for my condo lanai. It had no directions regarding cooking temperature or time and none were available from the manufacturer. In addition, there was no way to hook the lid to the grill when it was open, which meant that I had to set it on the tile floor. Very unhandy and messy. I gave it to a neighbor and bought the George Forman, which worked perfectly.

I just bought a second George Forman Patio Grill for my Minneapolis condo. I thought I would get by with my little GF Lean Mean Grilling Machine, but I found that I missed grilling outside in the summer. The new grill seems to fit together more tightly than the one I bought 6 years ago and it is very stable on my deck. I love the fact that it heats quickly and is ready to go in just a few minutes. i bought it at Costco in Aug. of 2010 for just $59.

Customer Review: George is right. It actually does what he claims it will do!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this grill 4 months ago and have used it several times per week ever since. I am a very lazy cook with 3 hungry teens and a hubby who eats like he's a heavyweight boxer. So, I needed something that would cook and clean-up as easily as possible. I can turn on the grill (it has an adjustable thermostat), take out a package of frozen chicken, hamburger patties, whatever, prepare it as usual, and the grill is ready to go to work. Dinner is on the table in no time. Its non-stick surface is just that, making clean-up simple and quick.
I am quite happy with the surface area, as I can easily fit 8 large burgers on at once. I live in the frozen north, so the fact that this grill will also work indoors is plus.
It's portable, reliable, easy to use and clean, and a bargain compared to other outdoor grills.
George put his name on a very good product.
Update: I have owned this grill for 2 1/2 years now and it still works like new!

Customer Review: Grill
Summary: 3 Stars

Satisfactory performance but I had hoped for better. Often, by the time meat is browned on the outside, it's dry or tough on the inside, from draining all the juices out. Better is meat is partially cooked in a microwave and then finished on the grill. Sits well on my stovetop as well as outside on the stand but caution because the unit comes off the stand easily; have to pick up by the stand to move it on the porch. Heating element (cord) is cumbersome and 90-degree angle makes to a bit awkward. Good for steaks, less satisfactory for pork or chicken. I do use it year-round and for an apartment, it's OK to use on the porch. Bought it because charcoal and gas models forbidden. Unfortunately, it is marginally less satisfactory than broiling in the oven; actually takes longer to cook. Caution: use at least 16AWG heavy guage extension cord and make sure outlet is 15 amps with no other load on it. Cord and outlet get very hot!

Customer Review: This grill is the business!!
Summary: 5 Stars

We just received the Indoor/Outdoor grill yesterday afternoon...and what a great nights grilling we had!!! we were ready to begin just 10 mins after taking the grill out of its box, and proceeded to grill steaks, home-made burgers, eggplant slices, courgette slices, mushrooms, onions and peppers...its easy to get carried away and grill everything you have! the steaks were very tender and moist..delicious, and the grilled veggies were incredible with extra virgin olive oil and garlic salt...we can't wait to grill again tonite! Clean -up was easy, using a tip found in these recommendations, we covered the grill in wet paper towels as soon as we removed the food, and left it soaking while we ate, then it was easy to clean, even the sticky bits! Living in an apartment that bans open fire grills, this was the ideal solution for us, it looks great too and doesn't take up much space on our balcony...our best online purchase yet!

Customer Review: Very Good But...
Summary: 4 Stars

I like this grill. The food tastes excellent and comes out nice and evenly cooked. And it's a cinch to use. But it is not the easiest thing to clean up and it does tend to emit a heavy odor after cooking on it (regardless of dish), and thus, it must be thoroughly washed with soap and water each time it's used. Even the cap on this thing can wreak pretty bad after grilling. It's quite large too, so washing it in a typical kitchen sink is extremely tricky, but doable. I've only had it for a month or two so I can't speak to its durability, but the clean-up issues are less than ideal. The one other thing that I don't like is that there is no place to hang the top. I knew that there aren't any wooden side-shelves for laying utensils (that's also a drawback), but not having a place to even hang the top can be a pain. All in all, this is a good value. Very easy to use. Great-tasting food. But quite clean-up intensive.
