Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of George Foreman GGR50B Indoor/Outdoor Grill

Customer Review: So far I love this grill!
Summary: 5 Stars

It is raining today and I want to cook steaks. Since this grill is light weight I picked it up and put it under the roof of my stairs. After 5 minutes I noticed I was getting dark grill marks so I turned the probe from the recommended 5 to a 4 and cooked another 7 minutes. OH MY! Juicy tender wonderful steaks! Someone mentioned it didn't taste right and all I can figure is maybe don't cook two different meats on the same side...perhaps mixing the wrong juices?
Anyway, I love this grill... easy to clean, lightweight and food is wonderful without all of the flames and having to buy propane. I lined the drip tray with tin foil which you can move all of the grill scrapings into this slot for easy pick up later. Plus I like that they made the drip tray quite large.
I'm sold on this bbq! I am going to try turning down the recommended heating time for other items too..I cooked chicken yesterday and that seemed to cook too fast and burned the skin.

I'll never look at another gas bbq'er again :)

Customer Review: Fantastic - so good I wish it was bigger
Summary: 4 Stars

I live in an apt building which does not allow gas or charcoal, so electric is my only option.

The cooking quality is very good. The heating is uniform throughout the entire surface. Some things get genuine grill marks, other heavier things, like steaks, may not, as they push down a little more and will touch 100% of the hot surface.

Cleaning is relatively easy and the food tastes great - obviously, you forfeit any charcoal flavors.

The grill is a decent size, but if you're grilling your entire 2-person meal on it, you will need to be efficient to get all the veggies and meats on the surface.

Cooks all around - the grill does heat up to a high temperature inside of the top of the grill.

I purchased Weber 7451 Standard Kettle Cover, Fits 22-1/2-Inch Charcoal Grills and it is too big. Sometimes it blows off, but the idea is right. I think a smaller one would work well.

Customer Review: Better Than I Expected!
Summary: 4 Stars

First of all, let me say that we are avid grillers. We've done nothing but cook on gas and charcoal grills for the past several years. Until...we moved into a condo complex that does not allow either one of these grilling methods. Our daughter's birthday party was only a few weeks after we moved in, and we really wanted to make it a "cook-out". I scoured local retail stores for electric grills, and came up with nothing. I read the reviews on this one, and decided to buy it. We...love...it. It heats up super quickly, can handle alot of food at one time, and our grilled food turns out pretty darn close to the same way it did on our gas grill. The only qualm I have with it is that if you don't clean it up right away, it can be difficult to remove all of the "cooked-on" stuff on the cooking surface. I'll take the blame for that, but it would be nice if the non-stick surface were easier to clean a couple of days after use. We still view it as a grill, so we don't feel it should have to be power cleaned after each use.

Customer Review: EXCELLENT!!
Summary: 4 Stars

I use this indoors all the time, for grilling anything you'd grill on an outdoor grill. It conveniently sits on the stand in a corner of the kitchen (it's much too big to store in a cupboard!) and is ready to go anytime I get the urge to grill something. I use with with the lid (for things that need to cook longer like roasts) and with the cover off for steaks and chops. Grilled veggies like zuchini ...WONDERFUL!

I haven't had it long enough to try a multitude of items, but I think this is going be be a good friend of mine for years to come!

Did I mention that with the no stick surface (I usually spray with non stick olive oil spray as well) it cleans up in seconds?? Can't beat the price either. If the stand were a bit more stable (it does wobble a bit if 'hit', and wouldn't trust it with pets or small children about) I would give it 5 stars.

If you're at all tempted and have the room for it (it's quite large and cooks MANY steaks and chops all at once) buy it...you WON'T be sorry!

Customer Review: Indoor/outdoor Grill works wonderfully!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Being used to a conventional outdoor gas grill, I admit my expectations were not very high. Was I surprised! While the food does not have the charred texture acheived by fire, it definitely finishes a very close second! You can even taste that it is cooking healthier. Ordinary boneless skinless chicken breasts marinated in Terayaki cooked to perfection with a moistness I've only been able to acheive baking with a cooking bag. This is due partly to the vented lid which I closed to retain moisture. Ham steaks turn out just like that of a country diner. Shrimp kabobs were the best I have ever had on a grill!
This grill easily can cook for 4-6 adults and cooks more evenly than a conventional grill. The one single flaw that I can find, is that the legs and support could have been a little sturdier. But lets face it, it's not going to be used as a trampoline! I HIGHLY reccommend this grill, as I consider myself to be one of the best critics out there. This item would be a bargain at twice the price!
