Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of George Foreman GGR50B Indoor/Outdoor GrillCustomer Review: Doesn't drain at all Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this from a guy who was moving and couldn't take it with him. I like the whole idea of grilling inside, so I did some research before I paid for it and liked the reviews I saw. I was quite disapointed when I cooked some hamburgers and chicken one night and the liquids did not drain at all. I tried moving the grill around just in case it needed to be adjusted and still no drain. The fat that came out of the burgers just sat there under the burgers. The chicken turned out pretty dry but I think that was partly my doing. It was easy to clean up, and it heated up very fast so I can't complain about that. However if I had wanted to fry my food I would have used the stove.
Customer Review: Exactly what I wanted..... Summary: 5 Stars
[...] We camp 6 months out of the year and with rising cost of fuel, thought these would be nice to have in place of our gas grills (campground provides the electric in our annual rental fees). True you do not get the taste with these that you get with the gas grills or charcoal grills, but these are electric so you really can not compare apples to oranges. BUT, these grills are in a league of their own, that is for sure. Clean up is awesome. Being able to use as table top indoors or as a stand up outdoor grill is a big plus. And all foods that we have cooked so far has been excellent. Would definately buy again and have many jealous campers looker for these themselves.
Customer Review: Does not heat up Summary: 1 Stars
This grill does not heat up enough for steak.
You can fix grilled vegetables, hamburgers, meatballs, chicken thighs or salmon just fine as those will taste great with lower temperatures and longer cooking time.
I have wasted more than $100 worth steak on this on several occasions, hoping that the grill will live up to the expectations this time. You just end up boiling the meat in its own juice, and the most tender cut eventually gets inedible.
I had the same experience when I bought the removable plate next grilleration after my old george foreman. Maybe there's some safety issue, but in any case, -repeat- this grill is not fit for steak, FYI.
Customer Review: Easy To Use, Easy To Clean Summary: 5 Stars
Purchased this so we would not cook steaks indoors in the Winter. Our stove hood recirculates air over the cook surface, and the air is filled with a smokey haze. (no exhaust function) . With this grill, there is: No Charcoal, No Lighter Fluid, No Propane !! Plug it in outside, place the lid over the cooking surface until it heats up. Cook your food with the cover on or off...but it works better with the cover on when used outdoors in cold weather. When finished, the cook surface lifts off for easy indoor cleaning and there is a George Foreman grease trap No tools needed for assembly. After it cools down, we leave it outside under a plastic cover.
Customer Review: awesome grill Summary: 5 Stars
This is a very nice grill. I did read reviews about it first and heard that it had a wobbling problem. I bought it anyway in hopes to cure the problem. The grill works great and easy to clean with the right sink. The wobbling problem is in the design of the stand, it is in 2 pieces and the wobbling occurs at the joint of the 2 pieces of the stand. It may not look perfect, but I took a 2 inch pvc commpression coupling and fit over the joint and it doesn't wobble there any more. I just painted the coupling black to make it match. It is still a bit top heavy, but it is the easiest grill I have ever had to clean and it cooks great. I highly recommend it!!
