Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Gaiam 53044 GT Xpress 101 Countertop Grill with Recipe BookCustomer Review: Love item!!!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I have had mine GT Express 101 since they first start advertising before they offered two for the price of one. I have not had a problem with mine. The wells is just like they used on the infomercial. It hold two cinnamon rolls from the can in each well. cooks perfect. I even made the corndogs in it, perfect. I have not had a problem on cleaning the product cause it's like cleaning the George Foreman grill, clean it while still warm to hot. Once I unplug it, I have a damp soft sponge and wipe it clean. I have not had a problem with the surface peeling.
I have had it for four years now, again when they first started advertising this wonderful product. I was skeptical at first but I am glad I did purchase this item.
Customer Review: The non-stick surface doesn't wait to peel off. Summary: 3 Stars
Everyone knows that most non-stick surfaces chip and peel sooner or later. This one doesn't wait. The surface starts coming off the first or second time you wipe out the trays.
I got this product for free from my neighbor who never used it, so I've been happy with it. I wouldn't pay more than $25 including shipping for it.
We use it to cook sandwiches on circular rolls and things toast nicely with this product.
The black coating on the surface, whatever it may be, doesn't come off on the food as far as we can tell, it only comes off when wiping out the product. We used a paper towel. Now we have to oil the product and fill the trays with water when we're done.
Customer Review: It is what was promised ... It is what it is. Summary: 3 Stars
I purchased this item (after seeing the infomercial) specifically for cooking small portions. It has worked well for that purpose and has a small footprint. It is especially helpful for singles and those on a diet who don't want loads of leftovers. I have tried several recipes from the book as well as "shake and bake" pork chops. The pork chops turned out very tender and juicy, although I will be turning them over if I do them again, since foods only brown well (crisp) if they touch both the top and bottom surface. Egg dishes turn out well, but I haven't had as much luck with the "possible pie." They have a "larger" one for sale and offered it when I ordered it, but I only wanted something very small.
Customer Review: GT Xpress 101 Summary: 5 Stars
For all you people that gave bad reviews maybe you should have used the product right . . . i bought one from target it was much cheaper than buying it online or over the phone. I've cooked breakfasts, lunches and many dinners and everything came out perfect. My non-stick surface doesnt come off and hasnt come off after many times being cleaned. Maybe your arent using yours properly, before everytime you cook something oil the GT with a brush dont use cooking spray that destroys non-stick surfaces and that why its coming off. I dont know if i was lucky and actually got one that works but mine works great. Try buying it at target and avoid online purchases or buying it off the T.V.
Customer Review: Stay AS FAR AWAY from GT Direct as you can get! Summary: 1 Stars
I bought two of the GT Express Cookers from a TV infomercial. They tried to UP-Sell a tone of stuff when placing the order.
The product was advertised at $19.95 ea. Which is OK but when the product & invoice arrived, I couldn't believe my eyes.
Here ya go:
GTX 2 pack Original With bonus = $39.90 (Which included recipe booklets)
GTX recipe collection shipping = $9.95
So Far = $49.85
Postage & Handling = $33.85 (WOW)
Total = $83.70
The units works OK (I only cook eggs in it) but it costs a whole lot more than $19.95. By the way, my gas range cooks eggs a lot faster than the seven minutes this thing takes.
