Customer Review: If you have trouble opening jars ...

If you have trouble opening jars, this product is not for you. I was attracted by the claims that the garlic didn't need to be peeled, which I hate, and it seemed very easy to clean. I'm not ancient, but have recently developed arthritis in my thumbs and often need a jar opener (or a big strong guy) to open my jars. I find this difficult to use; it takes a lot of strength to operate, especially if you leave on the peel. I'll have to try the instructions listed here that recommend using it to smash the garlic to loosen and remove the skin, and maybe I'll use this more. I love the clean up -- I just toss it in the dishwasher and it's done -- no small holes for the garlic strands to lodge in. And it's sturdier than many garlic presses. I seem to bend and ruin most garlic presses within a few months -- what's up with that??? So, to recap, if you're prepared to really crank, it works well. If you're lacking some strength in your hands, best to look for another product.
