My 5-year-old son loves to help in the kitchen and has been using this set since last July (6 mos.). We both love it. It's a bit pricey, and the glove is a bit big for him, but well worth the reassurance that at least he's somewhat protected. The knife is extremely sharp (I think sharper than mine) but due to careful oversight he's not had a single accident. I still cut round things in 1/2 first, such as carrots, to make sure they don't roll when he's chopping, and often stand there overseeing, still a little nervous. We are both glad we got it (birthday present) and would buy it again. Will be useful for years to come. The glove I just hand wash in the dishwater occasionally. I don't think I'd machine wash for fear of breaking up the metal (kevlar?) wire protection knit into the fabric.
