Our Austin, Texas, outdoors editor, Mike Leggett, recommended the product as keeping his hunting knife sharp enough for field dressing several deer. That and the price led me to buy it ASAP. Though I find it somewhat awkward to set up, it has put such good edges on our kitchen cutlery and other knives that I may not go back to any other system. The awkwardness will disappear with practice.
The Handy House was also very prompt with shipping which we appreciate.

I read the reviews before purchasing and was real excited to get it in the mail. However, just after 5 swipes or so with my chef's knife, it sliced right through the 'diamond' sharpening strips between the fingers and ripped it off. I believe I did it the right way and didn't abuse it, but noticed my knife frequently 'catching' on the diamond strips. The strips looked like they were glued on and not prepared to handle an actual knife's blade. For $20, I'm getting something else that will actually hold up.Customer Review: honing excellence

This came highly recommended to me by a knife professional (he wrote the book, literally!) and hasn't disappointed. I was never too handy with a honing rod and this handy pocket-sized device takes out all the guess-work.
Simple, easy to use, and maintains a brilliant edge between sharpenings. I was even able to provide a demonstration slicing a soft tomato!
So far so good - I'd recommend this for every kitchen. Outlook for long-term use also looks good, this is a quality device.

When the product arrived I was a tad skeptical that something so simple looking would be as good as advertised. What a pleasant surprise to learn that the product worked EXACTLY as advertised. If you're looking for something simple that will sharpen your everyday houseknives this is the product to get. The directions are laid out well and if you still have problems there's a website that has an instructional video to guide you further. I have one of these knife sharpeners, and I can truly say it's the only sharpener I have ever used with ease. This one was purchased for my brother for his birthday. He and his wife love it when I cook for them when I visit and I responded by giving them a really good knife and cutting board for Christmas. But they whined about keeping it sharp. OziTech to the rescue! My brother has some arthritis issues - this is a very easy sharpener for him, and for my sister-in-law to use. Success!
