Customer Review: One of my best purchases on Amazon! And I purchase a lot!

I initially read the reviews for this product...and my thought was, "I'll give it a chance..." I have an 11" Memory Foam mattress, which I absolutely love...but it's been directly on the floor of my bedroom for a few months. I'm a poor college student at times, and couldn't afford $300 or $400 for a nice platform bed you find most places. I was hesitant at ordering at first...when I saw the shipping was $40. I'm a prime account user, so I'm not used to the crazy shipping! But, I figured... $150 vs. $300, I should try it out.
It comes in a long slender box, which I could easily fit in my little hatchback, the box weighs about 50 pounds. Assembly is really straight forward, good diagrams, and simple once you get the first few steps done, it goes up quickly, I don't think I spent more than a half an hour, and that would have been way faster if I had an electric screwdriver or drill.
Construction is good, really great solid wood, you could even stain or finish the wood if you wanted to take the time and make it match other decor. Anyway, feels really solid, and I love the elevation it gave to my bed, and it's simple and looks good in my room.
The one downfall, and I didn't mark off a star because it didn't matter... is that some of the pieces come with wooden dowels already placed in the holes. This is nice because you don't have to pound a bunch of dowels in, but in my box one of the dowels on one of the pieces was bent, I tried to extract it but it broke off inside the part...so I couldn't get it out. I could have drilled it out, but I don't have a drill. However, upon putting together I realized that one broken dowel piece wouldn't matter, as most everything on this product ends up secured with wood screws.
If you're thinking about this, go for it, it'd especially be nice in a guest room, since you can fold it up and store it more easily.
