Customer Review: Don't Fret--Play the Ice Guitar!

Fred presents the Cool Jazz Ice Cube Tray, three plastic stirrers shaped like guitar necks(complete with frets and tuning pegs). Simply place these in the guitar-shaped ice cube molds, and--in the time it takes water to freeze!--you've got a beverage-cooling drink-stirring soul-shaking guitar ice cube.
This invention belongs to that exclusive club of tacky-but-cool gadgets and gifts. The surprising things is that it really works! Because the molds are cut into a silicon body, they're relatively easy to remove from the tray with the icy guitar body and the plastic neck intact. (I started removal at the bottom, separating the ice from the mold, and then just peeled it out.) With threee colors, your guests can tag up to four drinks (just figure that you can distinguish three glasses by the color of the guitar's neck and drink #4 by having no stirrer, for that person who inevitably shows up asking for an unchilled drink).
Guitar duration will depend on various factors; for example, the freezing point of your beverage, the room temperature, how frequently you stir, and how much of the guitar is exposed to air, but I could see the very bottom of the ice mold an HOUR after it was placed in water.
The Silicone molds, we're informed by Fred (www.fredandfriends) can withstand a temperature range of -58 to 446 degrees Fahrenheit, not very relevant to making ice cubes in the form of a guitar, but entertaining information. That's basically what these are all about, a fun and unusual accessory for party drinks that ACTUALLY WORKS. It's a bit pricey for what you get (although there are two [2] small bonus molds in the form of notes], but Fred's assurance that "your glass will be the hit of the party" makes it more than worth it. An essential addition for any culturally- aware get-together, one day these could be collector items! Recommended!
