I had to return this item only to find the replacement sent to me was the exact same size bowl. I filled the bowl with water. the bowl holds almost 4 quarts, NOT 5. I checked the products dimensions and found the diameter of the bowl IS 10.2 inches which means Amazon DID send the correct bowl. It must be the manufacturer who considers this bowl 5 quarts when it is actually almost 4 quarts. Still, I kept the bowl because it is a very handy size and it is light enough that I am able to lift it with one hand and pour flour into a mixing bowl or use it for numerous other baking and cooking procedures. I like these bowls. I don't consider them great quality but they are perfect for me. They are useful for preparing and serving food. They are not heavy and make washing them a breeze. They are great for placing the bowl over a saucepan of simmering water and melting chocolate. They are also good for giving blanched vegetables an ice bath to stop the cooking.
Amazon has many bowls to choose from but I like these and I am happy with my purchase.
