WOW! I couldn't believe the size of that bowl when I took it out of the box. It is so big, It could barely fit in my twin sink. The outside is brushed stainless. It came in perfect condition and on time. It is light weight which is a big plus for me because it would be very difficult lifting a bowl of that size if it were more hefty. I ordered it to complete my set of Fox Run stainless steel bowls. I find these bowls to be very useful and the light weight is an added bonus when you have to lift it with one hand and spill the contents into a stand mixer's bowl and when you have to wash and dry it. I have arthritis and these bowls make cooking, baking and food preparation much easier for me. I will be using this for a few french pastry recipes I have which call for a 6 quart bowl to be placed in a larger bowl which is filled with ice before whipping cream. It will also be used when I blanch vegetables and have to put a strainer in a large bowl of ice water to stop the cooking of the vegetables. If you are making salads, meatloaves, or batters for a large number of people, this is the bowl for you. I have better quality bowls made by CIA but it is heavier and has a rim which collects water in the dishwasher and always spills on the dried dishes when I remove the bowl. I now put the CIA bowl in the back of my closet and the Fox Run bowls have moved to the front, where I can get to them often. It will be the Fox Run which will get the most use.
Other uses: We lost our water for the weekend. I bought water and filled this bowl to wash and rinse our dishes. Also, this bowl can be turned upside-down and used to cove roasts when they come out of the oven, while you re making a pan sauce.
