Way smaller than other sharpeners found in stores - this doesn't sit on your desk, but in the drawer. It may not get your scissors as sharp as a professional sharpening (don't know, never had a professional one), but for the price and the size it works just fine.
I had one for years and recently lost it. I've been looking forever to find one in the local craft stores and finally found one on Amazon. I ordered several, giving away the extras to friends.
I do wish that it had a hole so I could attach it to a key ring therefore making it a bit harder to lose.

I've about worn out this item and am about to order another. However, reading another review, I see it may just be dirty. There's not much grip on this thing, so I only get a useful stroke in the scissors-opening direction. Again, after reading the other review, I recommend wiping the scissors blades with alcohol before using the sharpener. I get a nicely resharpened edge on all my straight-edge household scissors with this little tool, which costs next to nothing. Put it on your wish list and order one when you have accumulated enough other items to get free shipping!Customer Review: Lasts for years!

I have owned one of these for over 10 years. Have been very pleased with the edge it puts on my sewing and utility scissors. Recently I carefully pushed/pulled the little sharpening dowel out with a pair of needle-nose pliers (Just gently wiggle it through the end and then grasp it and pull free). Cleaned it up with a little scrubbing using a powdered cleanser til it was white again. It restored the sharpening ability beautifully! They make great gifts for the beginning sewer or crafter or homeowner you might know. Good little holiday presents!Customer Review: Not bad, not great

I imagine this sharpener would be good for the right pair of scissors, but it turns out none of mine are right. I purchased this to sharpen a pair of hair scissors and the scissors on two swiss army knives. Unfortunately, the grind angle on all three pairs is much less acute than this sharpener is designed for. All it did was slowly wear down the outside edges, never touching the cutting edges.
I assume that it is the appropriate angle for Fiskars scissors. If so, it should do a fine job.

I bought this little gadget and then didn't open the package for months. It just didn't look like it could possibly make much impact. It did a great job sharpening my scissors. It saved my old utility scissors from the trash can. They are as good as new. And I no longer have "junk" scissors for use on plastic and "good" scissors for use on paper only! This little thing can make them all like new. It may not perform like the more expensive sharpeners, but it does a great job and the price is right.
