I have used these tea filter clips literally for decades. They work beautifully:
First off, I never had one break or rust on me. Occasionally I lose one because they are quite small, so I always make sure I have a spare one in the drawer. But in my experience if you don't lose them (or give them away to friends who want one for themselves :-)), they last forever.
The mechanism is simple: The large "cat-face"-shaped part has a very slight inward curve. The horizontal bar going across behind it closes tightly against it due to the tension created by the curve. The bar springs open by gently pressing on the "cat face" frame. Slide the filter bag between the "cat face" frame and the bar, and pop the "cat-face" back into its curved shape to close the horizontal bar - the filter bag is held in tightly and definitely does not open accidentally. It sounds way more complicated than it actually is. I am only attempting to describe this in such detail because I don't think the Finum drawing illustrating this here is particularly clear (on the other hand, my description might not be either... :-)).
The little chain attached to the top of the Tea Click has a hook at the other end that helps anchoring it to either the spout or rim of a teapot or cup. In my experience the hook sometimes comes lose when I pour the water into a cup because the filter bag is normally just lying in the cup and not held in by its own weight (this does not seem to happen with teapots because they are deeper and the weight of the filter bag then keeps the hook in place), but I found I can just hook the chain onto the cup handle or even the rim of the saucer and it doesn't usually come lose that way. One can also easily squeeze the hook to be a bit tighter, that works as well.
I particularly like the Tea Clicks because they are made of metal and are not throw-away items. Together with the filter bags they also work for all kinds of cup and pot sizes and openings unlike let's say, the Finum Brewing Basket, which might be too big in diameter and/or length for some pots or cups.
I recommend the Tea Click to anyone looking for a clever and durable solution to prevent tea filter bags from floating around or opening while tea is steeping.

Finum Tea Clicks The finum clicks are a clever option for closing tea filters. Simply do the following: 1) Using both thumbs push the click outwards (against the curve) until it opens. 2) Place the Teabag opening into the clip and press clip close. 3) Place the filter in the teapot, hanging the clip on the rim of the pot. 4) After the tea has been brewed long enough, simply unclip and remove teabag from clip.Tea Strainers
