Customer Review: Fiestaware is awesome!

I have been looking to replace my old dishes for a couple of years now, but couldn't find anything I really thought would hold up in our household that I liked. I like Fiestaware, but 2 of my sister-in-laws already have the multi-color fiesta sets and I didn't want to be a copycat. Both of them swear by the durability of Fiestaware. They have been used and abused by their children over the years and the dishes still look great! I finally decided to give in and buy all scarlet Fiestaware. After the first of it arrived, I decided that although the scarlet is very pretty, the color tended to blend into my oak table rather than stand out as the pretty dishes they are. They weren't bad looking, but not eye-catching either.
So, I decided to change my mind at the last minute and do mix and match with my Fiesta too. I am soooo glad I did. We have 6 in my family, so I wanted 12 settings so we could at least have 2 full meals without running the dishwasher. I debated buying 2 each of 6 colors, but I ended up buying one of each of the current colors except the black,ivory, white & cinnabar. Now I have 12 different colors to choose from. I also now own a few pieces of serveware and 12 of the scarlet (multi-colored) striped glassware. Now my table is beautiful when set with my Fiestaware. I love the way it makes anything I serve up look so pretty and fun. I will never look back and miss my old dishes! My fiesta is here to stay!!
I ordered the 5 piece sets and do find that I use the small saucers some. However, the cups are really too small for our family's preference. I probably should have bought the 4 piece sets that come with mugs instead of cups/saucers.
Check the bottom of your pieces when you get them to be sure the unglazed part where they do their final smoothing at the factory is actually very smooth. I had one piece that still had a sharp feel to that area. I just took a nail file and filed it down smooth...no worries now. I suspect though that is how some people's dishes are getting scratched when stacked - by having a rough bottom on one or more of the dishes.
IF you are looking for durable, pretty, fun and very useful dishes then fiesta should be your choice. Now the tricky part is choosing which color(s) are best for you.
