Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Feliway 48-Milliliter Plug-In Refills, 6 Refills

Customer Review: it does work!
Summary: 5 Stars

My three kitties--two males and one female--had all been acting up after the death of my old alpha-male cat in February. The female vomited about once a day and clawed the furniture. One of the males had already had a specific problem with inappropriate urination, and the other male became more aggressive towards the other two in the absence of the old kitty, exacerbating the other male's problem. The urination got so bad that we had to throw away a three-year-old leather chair because it was so saturated with urine and scratched up from clawing by the female.

I bought this product out of desperation--I was ready to get rid of one of the males, but it was breaking my heart. We needed to buy a new chair but were obviously worried about throwing money away. I bought the diffusers and put them to work for a few weeks. I placed one in the upstairs bathroom and the other in the living room on the first floor. We noticed an immediate relaxation of all the cats. The female stopped vomiting, the urinating male went outside the box only twice in one month (and in easy places to clean up), and the dominant male relaxed his aggression (although he still makes it clear that he is king!). When we finally decided to re-introduce a chair, I made sure to buy the spray and use as directed. My new chair has been here for three weeks now, and there has not been one incident--either urinating or clawing. This product, in combination with an increased vigilance about scooping the litter box, just might have saved my house (and my sanity).

Customer Review: Keep Plenty on Hand
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this at the suggestion of my vet. My poor Charlotte was very nervous, not eating, marking my rug, and got to a point where she refused to use the litterbox at all! I tried so many ways to get her to stop marking with little success. After I plugged in the first diffuser, I absolutely noticed she was more calm, but still marking. I bought a second diffuser, and that did the trick. With the help of special cat litter (Dr. Esley's Cat Attract) and the diffusers, she got back on track. As they state in their information about the product, it took 3 months to see the full effect in her. Today, I could not live without this product.

I keep one diffuser by the spot where my cat was marking and one in the next room to cover the downstairs of my home and the places she spends the most time in. Now she is a calm, lovable cat, eating like a champ, and using her litterbox. Let me add after so much peeing on my area rug, I had to throw it away because she was still obsessed by the spot. One year later with the rug gone and the diffusers, she is still a happy cat and I have peace in my house. I will always keep refills of Feliway in the house. Charlotte is my special needs cat and I consider this product to be like her medication, something she will always need. Also, don't let it run out! She had a terrible relapse when both of my diffusers ran dry. Check them often because they may not exactly last 30 days.

Customer Review: Feliway Products/Cat anxiety/Cat spraying problem
Summary: 4 Stars

My understanding is that Feliway products emulate feline pheromones and, in essence, trick cats into believing their territory has already been marked, so they feel relaxed and are less likely to mark their territory themselves. We have indoor cats, one of which is very skittish with strangers, the other of which developed a habit of spraying after a recent move. All the Feliway products seem to work pretty well. When we use the spray before company comes over, the cats are noticeably more relaxed and outgoing. As is reasonable to expect, the plug-in diffusers take some time to work because (1) the air has to become saturated with the solution, and (2) it takes some time for cats to be reconditioned to a change in their environment. So the long-term effect occurs gradually, but now if we ever run-out of diffuser solution or remove the plug ins for more than a day or two we definitely notice a difference in the cats' anxiety levels, and the 'sprayer' (who we jokingly refer to as Sir Pees-A-Lot) is more likely to have an 'accident'. It helps to use these products in conjunction with using a cat-attract product in the litter box. My only complaint is that the diffuser refills are suppose to last ~6 weeks, and in our current apartment they last only about 4-4.5 weeks, which gets kind of expensive. We previously lived in a more humid climate, and they seemed to last longer there.

Customer Review: works like a charm!
Summary: 5 Stars

to help out a seriously ill neighbor, i adopted his 5 1/2 yr old deaf cat this past summer, with very little info. my vet thinks that besides being confused & scared, she's very close to feral, possibly herself, or if not, then her mother or father. i already had a cat who was totally mellow & loved other cats, but this little girl was/is a real problem! had her quarantined for 2 weeks in a room with her litter, toys & food. & my hands took quite a beating from her. had a calming collar on her in the 2nd week but wasn't enuff. then my vet said to get Feliway diffusers. have only had Comfort Zone brand but i can tell ya, this stuff is Fabulous! my mellow guy became a ragdoll within minutes of my plugging one in. the hissy little thing took a few days, even with the collar, but it finally calmed her down to actually trying to be friendly. & she totally loves being brushed & rubbed & scritched all over. her purr is wonderful to hear after all her stress-filled hissing & growling. but i sure can tell by her behavior when the diffusers are running low! when they say 4 weeks, they're not playing!

i must say, one if these is Not enuff. it covers only a small area, so if you have a house, load up! the spray is good too, but you need to remember to use it every 8-10 hrs. all in all, the diffusers are really worth it for the peace & quiet! it's a benefit to all to all of us.

Customer Review: Works For Me
Summary: 5 Stars

I have 3 cats and two are well behaved but the third is nicknamed Mr Trouble. He does things like picking on the other cats and getting into the trash (and anything else he shouldn't) plus waking me in the night with meows and pawing. However as long as I have these plug-ins running he is much, much better behaved and the change is right away. The plug-ins don't seem to affect the other two but they have a much sweeter nature naturally. The product is a bit expensive and the first time I got six and plugged them in to every room. For just 30 days that is a hefty cost for me. So I let them run out and put up with the poor behavior for a while. Finally I ordered again but this time I put one in the room Mr Trouble spends his time all day (while I'm at work) and the other in the livingroom. It seems to work just as well and this way this supply will last me three months which is much more manageable. I have friends who have tried the product too and as you will read it seems to work great for many but doesn't work for every cat. Not surprising really since every cat, like every human, is different. But if you have behavior problems see your vet first and make certain your cat is healthy (I had mine checked by the vet first). After that I'd highly recommend trying this product. It makes a big difference in our household where we all are more peaceful and happier now.
