Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Fasta Pasta The Microwave CookerCustomer Review: Excellent Time Saver! Summary: 5 Stars
This pasta cooker works just the way it's supposed to. I did find that I had to make adjustments on the cooking time (this is mentioned in the product instructions) since we like our pasta very al denté, but overall, I was very pleased. When you read the instructions it seems as if the cooking time is very long and you may wonder, how is this a time saver? However, if you factor in:
1. The time it takes for the water to begin to boil
2. The actual cooking time of the pasta
3. The washing of the pasta cooking pot
You'll see that in the long run it really does take less time to cook pasta in the FastaPasta. Not only that, but the FastaPasta is easier to clean and takes up much less storage room than a big pasta cooking pot, not to mention the water you save. Where I live, water is now averaging about $70 a month, so every little drop saved is good.
Overall, I'm very pleased with this product and we'll be eating a lot more pasta from now on. Oh...it's also good for cooking fresh pasta. :)
Customer Review: Excellent item, should be in every home, perfect for those living alone or on a budget! Summary: 5 Stars
Have used this for almost a year now, and every single time it is perfect pasta.
All you need to do is follow the directions, and a few minutes later your pasta is done to perfection.
The product is high quality, and made in the USA, which makes it all the better!
Have given several as gifts, and once people try it they are hooked as well.
Easy to measure with the lid and markings on the side-- trust me if you have ever botched pasta ( like I have) you will REALLY love this one!
***June 2009 update***
This product just keeps getting more use - last night I made fresh summer corn- perfection! Earlier in the day, I cooked up some unique shapes of pasta for a chilled, easy to make pasta salad - what a work horse!
Though I have no relationship with the production of Fasta Pasta, I certainly wish I did! This is the rare item that you probably will use each day, or at least every week. The new price makes this VERY attractive too!
Customer Review: Absolutely fantastic! (good for cooking for toddlers) Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this item because I was tired of going through the process of boiling water for a small amount of pasta. First you have to wait for the water to boil, then you have to cook the pasta, then you have to strain the pasta. I do realize that's not really a lot of work, but if you've got a toddler in your life, who doesn't eat a wide variety of foods, but one of the food items is pasta - then this beats doing any of the above any day.
I've cooked many types of pasta and many different amounts, and it's been great so far. No boil overs, no messing up a pot and strainer - it cooks the pasta in the container and the pasta is strained from the container as well.
If none of that convinces you to buy it, then just think about the convenience of putting this in the microwave and being able to leave the room until the microwave indicates the time is up. You really can't do that with a pot of boiling water.
Just fantastic and perfect for quick pasta cooking!
Customer Review: Highly recommended even for a fussy cook Summary: 4 Stars
I was skeptical. How could a microwave pasta cooker possibly cook pasta as good as cooking it on a stove top? I don't pretend to understand why it works, but it does. Pasta comes out great virtually every time. However, if you are cooking large frozen ravioli, you may want to cook that on the stove top instead. I think small ravioli would have been fine, but this is the only fault I can find. Some of the large frozen ravioli didn't get fully done and others lost much of their filling. I could tell I was overfilling the cooker, so it is mostly my own fault.
I cooked regular spaghetti last night and it cooked al dente. I have a good microwave that cooks very fast, so the cooking times suggested on the included guide work well for me. You can add spices, salt, and oil to the cooker without problem. It washes well in the dishwasher and has stood up to repeated use. It is made out of durable plastic. This isn't the cheap crap that comes from China. It's also priced right, so go for it.
Customer Review: Perfect Pasta Summary: 5 Stars
I am an admitted kitchen gadget person. I have all these great pasta pots...heavy nice pots...stainless steel, nonstick, with and without the draining inserts, and I can honestly tell you that after using the Fasta Pasta Microwave Cooker I can't think of a reason why I'd ever use anything else. This will sound over the top, but I have NEVER had such perfectly cooked pasta, and it was so unbelievably easy. Follow the cheat sheet provided by Fasta Pasta that lists all the various types of pasta with serving size, and water level instructions, and voila you get perfectly cooked pasta with very little draining necessary. This gadget is a serious keeper. You get the best pasta with the easiest clean up (dishwasher safe) with very little money invested. I may keep one large pasta pot for dinner parties, but it will go in storage, since this Fasta Pasta Microwave Cooker will be my everyday pasta "pot".
Try it for yourself and then think about giving it as a gift. That's what I'm doing.
