I have every kitchen gadget---from a VERY expensive breadmaker to a fajita machine---as well as your standard toaster, blender, magic bullet and so on. If I had to choose one (and I love my magic bullet) I would choose this one.
I hate to cook and I love pasta, so I always bought it to go. No more.
I haven't bought take-out pasta since I bought this gadget.
The usual process is:
put water on, wait, go back, check, wait---is it boiling yet?
Then put in pasta and set timer.
Go back, pull out pasta strand with tongs and burn mouth.
Cook longer, repeat.
Get out strainer, pour water into it, steam burn! (I told you I cannot cook.)
Lose part of it trying to get it into the strainer, or turn the *&^% strainer over and get none of it.
And then you have to clean the pot, the tongs, and the strainer (maybe the sink).
All this nonsense took FOREVER.
With this gadget there is no pain, no wasted time---at all. I have another kind that does not work, so I was skeptical. But Amazon takes things back without question, so I thought it was worth a try.

It works perfectly. You stand the pasta in one of several holes on the lid to measure it. The big hole is two servings. Then lay the pasta in the container and fill with water to the line indicated for two servings. Put in microwave for the time they tell you. (Mine is an old microwave, so I use 15 minutes---I knew I needed more time because I always do.) Take it out and put the lid on it and lift it over the sink to strain it. It is just awesome and always, always perfect.
So it takes one minute (or less) to measure, fill, and stick in the microwave compared to the usual way, which I hated. I make pasta all the time now and NEVER buy it to go. NEVER EVER. This thing paid for itself with one use. I think I need more than one because it's always in the dishwasher.
Try it---I promise you, it's just awesome!

I bought this product about a year ago. I use it to make pasta in the microwave in the student lounge at my university and it works great. I cook pasta in pots all the time and this product is definitely superior. Here are the advantages of a microwave pasta cooker:
1. You don't need a stove! This is obvious, but the importance cannot be understated. If you are like me, you don't always have access to a stove. If it wasn't for this product I would not be able to eat fresh cooked pasta at school unless I bought it from an overpriced campus restaurant.
2. It is quicker than using a pot because boiling and cooking are condensed into one activity.
3. It does not require the attention that a pot does, i.e. waiting for the water to boil, stirring the pasta to prevent it from sticking to the bottom, and making sure it doesn't boil over. You can just stick this thing in the microwave and not pay any attention to it. I have followed the instructions and it has never boiled over.
4. It has a strainer lid, so you don't need a colander (if your pot lacks a strainer lid).
5. Cooking stuff in a microwave is more energy efficient and uses less water than cooking on a stove.
6. It is much cheaper to make your own pasta than it is to eat at a restaurant. I can buy enough spaghetti for two meals for only $1.00 at the supermarket. A spaghetti dinner at a restaurant costs about $10.00. This pasta cooker also costs about $10.00. It practically pays for itself after a few meals!
7. Pasta is healthier than other microwavable food. If not for this, I would be eating ramen noodles or McDonalds or something.
Unless you are some sort of pasta connoisseur, do yourself a favor and buy this product. You could try making your own pasta cooker by punching holes in the lid of a microwave safe container, but something like this is more convenient because it is designed specifically for pasta making.

This is one fabulous little microwave cooker.
First, in the interest of full disclosure, let me just say I was honored to get mine directly from the inventor, who was kind enough to give our business school group a tour of his Michigan warehouse, complete with a Fasta Pasta for each of us!
I had been interested in buying one anyway, so I was thrilled to get it for free. Honestly, I'm planning to come back for more, since I'd love to send one to my son and daughter out of state. It's great for anybody who eats pasta and has a microwave, you know, college kids, military personnel with kitchen access, those who travel frequently in RVs, etc.
As soon as I got it, I cooked linguini. It was amazing. I had forgotten how many times my spaghetti water boiled over on the stove before I discovered the Fasta Pasta. Now I don't have to babysit it, and the noodles don't stick together, even though I don't add any butter or oil to the water.
Make sure to leave the lid off in the microwave--that's just for draining the water. There's a handy-dandy cutout that perfectly measures the amount of pasta built into the top too.
This is easy to clean, saves a bit of fat, doesn't require babysitting and I can skip getting out the colander. Plus I always get my pasta right. You can't beat it, especially for the price.
One final note: I don't normally microwave plastic. But this isn't ordinary plastic, it's safe for cooking. Be careful, though, because due to laxness in some country's laws, there are foreign knockoffs out there that are made of a lighter-weight plastic that is toxic to cook in. Unfortunately, the imitator even stole Fasta Pasta company images to lead buyers to believe it's the real deal.

Don't be put off by its "as seen on TV" heritage. This is a well-made, simple, cheap, and handy device. Yes - you can cook pasta in a microwave. It's easier than boiling a big pot of water, with less mess and less clean-up, and no "sampling" or guess-work about if the pasta is cooked. Basically, there is no magic to this device, and you could do the same with any microwavable bowl. However, FPMC allows you to get the pasta/water ratio and cooking times absolutely perfect, and it also acts as an effective strainer after the pasta is cooked. It's so inexpensive, it's not worth it to DIY it. The directions turn out perfect alla dente pasta consistently - every time. Leave it in another minute if you prefer your pasta a little softer. Just be careful when you drain and strain, as the water is very hot, obviously. I rinse the pasta in cold water in the FPMC after I strain it to get rid of the excess starch, then put the pasta in in another bowl with my favorite store-brand marinara sauce for a few minutes to heat up the sauce and warm up the cooked pasta after its cold rinse. (I'm of 100% Italian descent. I'm sure my beloved grandmothers from "the old country" are rolling over in their graves at the thought of me using store-bought marinara sauce, but they've honestly come a long way... Some store brand sauce is quite awesome, especially after a little doctoring...) - As I type this I'm enjoying for lunch some imported whole wheat penne with a nice tomato-basil sauce and some added fresh mushrooms with some good fresh parmigiana cheese (no skimping here! Spring for the good/real stuff!) and crushed red pepper. - about 15 minutes start to finish, and I've already cleaned the FPMC. Absolutely delicious, didn't have to leave my house, healthy, reasonable calorie count, and cost - what, a buck per serving? Get one.Customer Review: Great item, but you need to buy two!

Great item! Well worth owning! Performs exactly as described when easy directions are followed. Recommend this to anyone with a microwave - definitely makes life easier and with less cleanup. Oh, I do put a little salt in the water, where the directions don't say anything about that.
The only problem with it, is that it only cooks enough for two servings. I was warned on this by a prior review, so am passing it on...
The directions on the Fasta Pasta say the amounts to be measured on the lid for cooking are for 2 or 4 people. The info on the particular spaghetti package I have does say one pound is enough for nine servings (I had never looked for this info on a package before, so it was a surprise to me!) With the amount to be cooked supposed to serve 4, be aware that would be 4 average five yr olds. It's on the level of the info on a can of coffee stating a cup is 6 oz. So very *not* realistic!!! This cooks a max of 1/4 pound dry for the 4 person serving.
My husband loves 2nds and cold spaghetti leftovers the next day, so while we're eating from the 1st batch, I have a 2nd batch cooking. I works out very well for us.
If you have a family of 4, with older kids, you will need to play with timing on getting enough cooked, unless you have 2 micros. My suggestion would be to cook a few batches ahead, put them in a baggie until ready for dinner then heat the whole amount in a micro bowl for the table.
Tried it on egg noodles & it works great there, too. I haven't tried it on other things yet, but have a feeling it will perform just as advertised!!
Just wish the company would get on the ball and make one family sized to cook a pound of spaghetti at a time!
