I bought this with several other items in order to get the free "Super-Saver" shipping from Amazon so I literally got this for under $7 "out the door". For that amount of money I was expecting to get something a little junky but usable. On the other hand, I find it hard to say anything bad about this scale. Its accurate, starts up quickly and is not flimsy. I see that some other reviewers complain about the small size, but it is a pocket scale. Of course you'll be sacrificing some size for portability. Nevertheless, you should keep that in mind that the weighing platform is only about 2 3/16" inches square. You can sort of increase the effective size by using the dust cover as a tray (as shown in the sellers photo), but that only gets you a little bit more area to work with. the scale costs $5, that should tell you enough. it doesnt come with a calibration weight and it turns off while you are still using it! also, the surface to weigh things is very small. another thing i cant stand about this scale is that it is not sensitive enough to weigh things that is less than 1 gram. its supposed to be able to but i have put things that are .5 grams and it just doesnt read at all. the instructions say that if its not reading properly then it needs to be calibrated-but that means i have to go out and spend more money on a weight-defeating the purpose of buying an inexpensive scale. someone said that you were better off donating your money to charity, and i second that. i was trying to buy something inexpensive and i ended up getting something cheap.........i wonder what the sellers return policy is....Customer Review: Convenient, But One Major Drawback

Fast Weigh's M-500 Digital Pocket Scale is very convenient for weighing smaller items such as letters, small liquid doses, or even light jewelry. The lid serves as a small tray to hold items. The scale is also fairly accurate.
There's one major drawback on this scale, however. It can quickly lose its calibration, necessitating a 500g weight in order to recalibrate it. This is a drawback since the weight needed for calibration can cost just as much or, in most cases, more than the actual scale.
Keep this fact in mind when deciding on whether or not to purchase this scale. Yes, it is convenient. Yes, it is very handy to tote it around with you. Despite this, it might be just as simple to spend a few extra bucks and get a better scale.
Mildly recommended.

Accurate, portable, and cheap. Does exactly what it says it will. I use this to measure food portions while away from home and it works just dandy. Just place your container on top of it, zero the scale out to compensate for it's weight, then measure away. I have also been known to take it to the science lab with me, because it's quicker to use and just as accurate as the traditional slide scales we have.
It comes with a protective cover that can double as an expansion tray to place objects on, and has a sticker on the inside with some convenient unit conversions.
Really, you could not ask for more given the price. If you just need a simple device to accurately measure the weight of small objects, then this product is great.
