Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Farberware Select 8-Inch and 10-Inch Skillets, RedCustomer Review: Smaller Than They Appear Summary: 4 Stars
I'm glad I got these. The price was really good and so I think you're getting a really good value here.
I've used the large skillet several times and I think the construction is as good as it looks in the picture. That is, the handle is pretty nice, and the bottom of the skillet is nice and thick and feels sturdy. The non-stick seems durable.
What you should know, is that 8" and 10" are the outer diameters of the skillets, and the skillets are pretty shallow. So even the large skillet isn't that big. If you try and make a stir fry for 2 adults using the large skillet, it will work, but you'll have to be careful not to flip food out while moving the food around with your spatula.
In conclusion...it's a great value, and great skillets to have in your repertoire. But, if you're like me, you'll also want a real big skillet or wok in your collection.
Customer Review: HIGH QUALITY and oven-safe to 350 -- FANTASTIC pans! Summary: 5 Stars
After getting the one set I ordered, I bought 12 more sets of these because they are a real find at an incredible price. Farberware is a great brand but these are not the cheaper Farberware pans at the discount chains...these are HIGH QUALITY, well-made, exceptional pans that you'll love using and/or giving as gifts. They have a nice thick heavy base so they won't warp like some cheaper thinner pans do. And, I couldn't believe it when I got them and saw that they are OVEN-SAFE to 350 degrees! So I can brown my chicken on the stovetop then stick it in the oven to finish cooking and get nice and tender. I kept 3 sets for myself and gave the rest as gifts, and everyone LOVES them. Highly highly recommend them, especially at the incredibly low price that Amazon has.
Customer Review: Inexpensive Teflon pans work great and look fabulous. Summary: 4 Stars
I had fairly low expectations for these pans when I purchased them, but I needed something to use while I figured out what brand of high quality cookware I wanted to use, but I've been pleasantly surprised with them. The fit and finish is of good quality, they look nice, and they work great. That's not without caveats, however, any cheap Teflon pan can become pitted or scratched if you overheat them (Teflon melts, you know) or use metal utensils on them, and I can't say how well the finish will hold up over time, but if you're gentle with them they should last for a good while. I didn't have any issues with the packaging, the cardboard separating the pans kept them apart and scratch free during shipping.
Customer Review: red faberware pans Summary: 3 Stars
I ordered and received 2 sets. One set was in perfect condition and I gave as a gift. The other set I kept for myself. The problem with the 2nd set? The smaller pan was in fine condition but the larger was obviously bent near the top of the handle, a manufacuring defect. NOT due to shipping or packaging. The good part is that the pan is usable, the bottom is flat. The bad part is how noticeably disfigured it is. As I was using it, family members would come up and say, "What happened to the pan?" I decided to keep it since it works anyway and wasn't worth returning. However, it was disappointing. I didn't read anything about receiving 2nds... did I miss something?
Customer Review: I Like So Far Summary: 4 Stars
Have only had these pans for just a short while, you cannot beat the price of these that alone deserves 5 stars. But I'm subtracting 1 because when I make scrambled eggs, the egg gets stuck on the metal rivets that aren't coated with nonstick inside the pan. I decided on these pans because of customer reviews, consumer reports rated nicely & I was sick of cleaning scrambled eggs off my regular pans. If the rivets were coated with nonstick too I would give 5 stars. Nice even heat, comfortable handles, light but sturdy. Washup is like a breeze, cleanup simple just the way I like it.
