...My wonderful old Toastmaster unit failed after 12 years of regular "waffling." Bought the Farberware unit because of outward similarities: round waffles, chrome exterior, darkness control, ready light. However, the Farberware unit can't cook a waffle evenly, if at all. Mine burns it in the center and leaves the outer area uncooked. This is after I put it on the darkest setting. On the middle setting (which is touted as giving golden waffles), waffles were white and uncooked in middle, even when left in unit for a longer period. I've experimented and can't find any way to get good results. This one's going back, and I guess I'll keep looking!

Ideal for when the whole family clamors for waffles, this appliance makes four of them at once, and they're the deeply indented, Old World style known as Belgian waffles--the kind that hold lots of fruit or syrup. With its variable temperature/browning control, the waffle maker cooks them to order, also. Nonstick grids and a chrome exterior mean easy cleanup. The waffle maker measures 8 inches wide by 12 inches deep by 4 inches high, and its cord wraps underneath for storage. The instruction booklet contains six recipes, including Low-Fat Lemon-Apple Waffles and chocolate Belgian Waffle "Cookies" that make great ice-cream sandwiches.
