Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Farberware 50123 Classic Tiburon 2-1/2-Quart Whistling Stainless-Steel TeakettleCustomer Review: Faberware Classic Tiburon Tea Kettle Summary: 4 Stars
I stopped shy of giving this a 5-star review because I have not owned it for very long. But so far it's been great, you just have to be careful not to overfill it or the boiling water will splash out when you lift the whistle to pour. Speaking of the whistle, it's a loud, urgent sound that compels you to get the kettle off the burner as soon as possible!! The size (2 1/2 quart) was exactly what I was looking for and the price was unbeatable! In looking through retail stores, it was difficult to find this size for under $50. It's not as eye-catching as some of those more expensive kettles but it met all of my other "wants" and it is used daily...so far with no problems!
Customer Review: Wonderful kettle. Summary: 5 Stars
My mom brought me some good tea when she came back from a trip to China, so I figure it's time that I bought a proper tea kettle. This one didn't cost me a lot of money and I wasn't really expecting much. I have an electric range and loves how the flat bottom of the kettle have a downward rolled lip that perfectly frames the burner. The consutruction is not heavy duty, and the entire thing felt kind of light, but it looks fairly nice and should last a long time as long as you don't use it as a hammer or something. The whistle lid needed a firm push to make a good seal, or else the whistle won't be as loud. But other than that, it is a great piece of functional cookware.
Customer Review: Pretty good for the price -- Not great Summary: 3 Stars
For $19.99, this isn't a bad tea kettle. I would, however, consider going with something a few dollars more expensive.
The kettle has a very wide base, which seems to help in heating quickly, however the metal is so thin I'm not convinced it's conducting the heat very well.
Additionally, the handle (plastic) seems to get quite hot. I'm not sure if this is normal or not.
The spout is somewhat clunky to open, however it seems to whistle reasonably well.
I'm happy with my purchase, for the price, but i'm considering finding a more expensive tea pot in the future. I don't expect this one will last too long.
Customer Review: Great kettle for a great price Summary: 5 Stars
I broke my trusty 24 year old kettle. Went to Target, spent $24 on a Copco - what a mistake! The plastic spout got stuck in the up position. And of course, by then I had thrown out the receipt. Then I saw this one for $15 on Amazon, with another item I bought, free shipping. Its just GREAT. I disagree with the other posters..... I find the whistle quite loud, which is good because the last thing you want is a kitchen fire from overboiling an empty pot. And the weight is quite good - feels very solid in your hand. For the price, a very good choice. There was a $45 kettle I was eyeing at Bed Bath and Beyond, but this is quite satisfactory
Customer Review: GREAT VALUE MUST HAVE FOR THE KITCHEN Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my wife so she would not have to heat water up for her tea in the microwave anymore and we have been very pleased with this one. The bottom is flat and a great size that completely covers the burner to allow the water to heat very fast. The stainless-steel looks very shinny and compliments the kitchen in a good way. The one thing I was worried about was the handle being hot and every time I have gone to grab the handle after the water is hot it is always cool to the touch. It also whistles at you to let you know that the water is done and so you don't forget it. This was defiantly a great buy for our kitchen.
