Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Fagor Splendid 6-Quart Pressure Cooker

Customer Review: I should have bought this long ago
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this cooker last year. My wife and I cooked Thai curry many times and each time took us over an hour. Because we have to simmer with med heat until the coconut milk starts to break out with oil. This baby saves us time and energy. A pot of curry (for 4-5 serving) now took us only 15 mins. Great with stew also. We experimented with beef and ribs for BBQ (before grilling) on the 4th and it was very satisfying. Only hassle is that I hate to hand wash it afterward. But I guess same goes for any pressure cookers. Highly recommend it.

Customer Review: Easy to use, no complaints
Summary: 4 Stars

I had not been around a pressure cooker since I was a kid and they always made me nervous. This cooker (and I'm sure most of the new ones) is easy to use and there's no worry. If you like risotto, it's the only way to go - no stirring and very creamy. The instructions are straight forward. I didn't like their recipe book but once you get the hang of it, you can adapt your own recipes. It is quite a time saver. Also, this is a perfect size for a good size pot of soup, vegetables, chicken, pork roast, etc.

Customer Review: Burns my food!
Summary: 1 Stars

If you follow the recipes in this book, you will have a burned mess. And smelly house. If you modify them and add more liquid, same thing.
And about 85% of the time, I had to push the rubber seal with a fork prong to get the pot to seal. Steam was just pouring out, and once again, burned meal.
On the rare occasions things went smoothly, the food was delicious.
But after many costly organic ingredients up in smoke, I carried it to my dumpster!
Looking for another brand now..

Customer Review: Be aware the cooker
Summary: 1 Stars

There is some black metal power fall off the valve. Every time after cook, you can notice it by rub the valve under the Lid. It will be very obvious when you cook rice, there will be black power on the rice after you cook. Even I do not think it is lead, but the powder looks very like lead and feel like lead. No mater what it is, it is always not good to have those powder on your food every time you cook and the valve will very likely be eroded soon. I contact with the manufacture but no response.

Customer Review: great so far
Summary: 5 Stars

I have only had this a couple of months, but I am enjoying it so far. It is very different from my old pressure cooker that had the attachment that jiggled. It did take some getting used to, but it works so much faster than my old one and came with some great recipes. It seems very strong and well built. I had a mirro before this and the handle would always come loose. I don't think that will ever be a problem with this particular model and brand.
