Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Factory-Reconditioned Cuisinart ICE-20FR Automatic Frozen Yogurt-Ice Cream & Sorbet Maker, WhiteCustomer Review: This is Great! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this ice cream maker to help me stick with a low carb diet (no sugar) and it's been so fun to use! We freeze fat-free sugar-free pudding in it and it's so yummy - no it's not Ben and Jerry's but it's as close as I can get on my meal plan and that suits me just fine! It's kind of loud but no big deal, for the price I can deal with a little noise for 20 minutes. I wasn't scared off by the "refurbished" status either, it was in perfect condition, I didn't see a single scratch or defect at all. I have purchased other "refurbished" items that have been just as good. If you want an ice cream maker to get started with, this is a great one!
Customer Review: Simple machine, great job Summary: 5 Stars
I'm really happy with my new Cuisinart ice cream maker. How much simpler than so many of the expensive, complicated ice cream machines! I put the bowl in the deep freeze overnight and mixed the ingredients and refrigerated them overnight. I assembled it as instructed and in twenty minutes had a lovely frozen dessert. I was a little surprised that the bowl rotates and the scraper does not. But it works like a charm and cleanup is easy. I also tried putting the bowl in the freezer part of the refrigerator and that worked fine as well. I've been using recipes with low dairy fat content and even these work well. A real winner.
Customer Review: Just Love It Summary: 5 Stars
Mine was a new in the box product, not reconditioned. My family just loves the ice cream maker. Making ice cream is so convenient. You don't have to worry about ice and ice cream salt. I have also poured a soft drink into the ice cream maker and when it was ready it came out just like the frozen coke/Icee products that you buy. I was alittle skeptical at first, but after buying one and trying it I went back and purchased another just in case I wanted to make more for when I have company. The recipe book has several recipes that are good. One that I haven't tried yet is suppose to make the ice cream taste like a fudgecicle.
Customer Review: Great Value for a Great Ice Cream Maker Summary: 5 Stars
This refurbished unit is really a terrific value. All of the components appeared to be brand new, as they showed no signs of wear. I recommend getting an ice cream recipe book with it. The recipes that come with it are fantasic, but few. If you plan on making a lot of ice cream, get yourself an extra freezer bowl for when you have guests. It is great fun to be able to experiment with your own tastes rather than limiting yourself to what is available at the store. Peach fozen yogurt is especially good for a healthier change of pace... but something always brings me back to the rich creaminess of the premium vanilla.
Customer Review: 8lbs dry ice = 5 batches on one night Summary: 5 Stars
Our freezer sucks, so i bought 8 lbs of dry ice for a grand total of $8 and froze and refroze the freezer bowl and mixtures 5 times and still had leftover dry ice for fun times and the cuisinart and freezer bowl handled it all like a Pro, my only recommendation is ice cream recipes from interweb might be better than the book that came with this, definitely recommend dry ice - dump some dry ice right into the freezer bowl and into a cooler and its frozen 20-30 min - wash out dry ice residue from freezer bowl (no dry ice in mixture if that isn't obvious) before adding ingredients, pineapple guava ice cream in my future
