Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Factory-Reconditioned Cuisinart ICE-20FR Automatic Frozen Yogurt-Ice Cream & Sorbet Maker, WhiteCustomer Review: Wonderful addition to my kitchen! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been looking at ice cream makers for almost a year now, trying to decide which one to get. When I saw the price on this refurbished model, I had to give it a try. My first batch didn't turn out that great, but it was only because I got anxious and took the bowl out of the freezer too soon. I also had to lower the temp in my freezer. After I lowered the temp and left the bowl in the freezer for 24 hours, WOW!!! I have never had better ice cream in my life! I love to make my own flavors up with flavored extracts, and now I can make any flavor I choose. I keep the batches in tupperware in the freezer and they are ready anytime. My family loves them, and so do I. This is a great product at a super price!
Customer Review: nice so far Summary: 4 Stars
I just ordered this ice cream maker because I am on a diet including dairy and fruits; I thought I'd make sorbets. I have used this machine twice and it works well. I will say my only grumble is the ingredients freeze to the sides of the bowl and leave a frozen ring around the inside which is difficult to remove without unfreezing. Since my diet involves measuring amounts, this makes some difficulty for me. That said, I did enjoy the finished products, and I haven't seen the troubles other people reported about "too soft" mixtures. I use cold ingredients which probably helps. Both my ice milk and fruit sorbet were delicious. Lastly, I bought a reconditioned unit, and it looks and performs perfectly.
Customer Review: Great value and easy to use! Summary: 5 Stars
We used to have one of those ice cream makers that works with salt and ice cubes. After fighting with it one holiday, a relative of ours bought us one of these ice makers instead. We LOVED it, and friends have had so much fun with it that they now have one as well. It's very easy. Simply put the central unit into the freezer beforehand so it gets cold. Now dump in the ingredients, put that into the base, and turn it on. In 20 minutes you have fresh, delicious, all natural ice cream or yogurt, in whatever style you enjoy! We found it easy to use, easy to clean up, and a huge hit with not only our own family but with whoever came over to eat with us. Definitely a keeper.
Customer Review: Excellent Product Summary: 5 Stars
I absolutely love this machine. I have every kitchen appliance known to man. I recently got married and had an incredibly hard time registering, this was the only appliance that I didn't already own, so I thought 'what the heck', it can't be worse than my wooden tub/ice/salt freezer. It was amazing! It makes the perfect quantity of ice cream from a dinner for 8 and the cost savings on store bought ice cream is great. Just one pint of whipping cream and one pint of milk, a little sugar and vanilla and you are good to go! I never follow a recipe, so the book is a good guide, but feel free to embellish yourself with fresh fruit, nuts, or your favorite candy bar.
Customer Review: Easiest Ice Cream Ever! Summary: 5 Stars
I have a family of 7, the youngest being 5 years old and he loves making ice cream in our new Cuisinart! It is so easy that it only takes a few minutes to get the ingredients together, he pours them in a bowl and mixes them, and after I pour the mixture into the freezer bowl, he turns on the machine. Then, for the next 20 to 25 minutes he runs back 10 times to check on it. The other kids are always coming up with new ideas for making new flavors too. It makes dessert really special when the kids help. I have had other ice cream machines, and have never been satisfied, however, the quality of this machine speaks for itsself. You can't go wrong.
