I used to strain my tuna cans by pressing the lid in, but a while ago I switched to a safety can opener and the lid no longer fits inside to do a good job of pressing out the water- I was getting tired of soggy tuna! It fits perfectly in the can and since it has holes all over, I don't risk tuna water jetting out the side like when I used to use the lid.
Yeah, it's probably a little overpriced for a tiny piece of plastic, but I didn't have any luck finding one at any local stores. In the end, I think it was well worth it.
