Customer Review: Mine broke after 14 months! better get a warranty!

I bought this Oct. 1st, 2008 and it died this week--it lasted a grand total of 14 months, AND it was used at most, 2x per week. Not heavy use, in my opinion. (Conversely, my Kirby is 8+ years old and has NEVER had a problem!)
This is NOT a good vacuum but it is helpful when picking up crumbs, dirt, lint, etc in between regular vacuuming.
It has a carpet setting but it is absolutely useless on carpet. Do not vacuum over a throw rug...it will bog down the motor and die!
I'd compare this vac's ability to that of a handheld Dustbuster. Helpful in a pinch, but probably not worth the money if you have a really good vacuum?
Don't know if I had bad luck with mine or not, but mine didn't hold a charge very long right from the start! I don't think it would have lasted long enough to vacuum up an entire house's floors if you had hardwood.
It is terrible at picking up debris. Popcorn pieces just break apart and then go flying. Flat bits of paper just stay on the floor! Definitely not good for picking up anything "slimy", such as corn kernels or spaghetti bits that fell from the table.
Did work pretty good on picking up lint and hair though it did have a tendency to "blow away" larger clumps of lint or dust bunnies.
It would be helpful vacuuming places where you couldn't plug in a traditional vacuum. It is easy to use; my 3yr old and my 5 year old fight over who gets to use it first! The adjustable handle is a good idea but...you probably won't need it. I don't think I've ever had to adjust the handle to reach a difficult place; it's just not necessary. So it is a smart idea, but you probably won't use it for that.
I'd definitely suggest that you buy a warranty if it is offered, or look up [...] for an affordable replacement warranty. Worth the money, because you WILL be replacing this item a lot sooner than you think!
