Customer Review: Works great, esp. for the low price point

I heartily agree with the majority of the positive reviews. This product really does work so far as described. I didn't see the infomercial, but it was displayed at Bed Bath. They were running a video loop. It is primarily made of plastic, but it is rather hard plastic and is sturdy. both the smaller processor bowl and large pitcher have wide bases with rubber rings which greatly add to stability. The Amazon low price is equal to the clearance price at Bed Bath. It's a very good deal. I think if you can find the larger set with extra processor bowls for $50, that may be the best deal, so you can chop multiple items in a row without having to rinse out/clean between every item.
The four blades which are stacked on top of each other are a great design, and the moveable pod motor is pretty smart design too; seems like much lower chance of liquids leaking into the motor. I have only been using this a week, so i can't attest to long term durability, but if you go to the ninjakitchen site, you can buy replacement parts- it's not a total throw-away product, you can replace individual parts. The 400 watt motor is quite strong and close to the professional blender power wattages. And it definitely is the first blender I've seen which really can crush ice evenly into "snow" texture. I used to pre-chop ice cubes with an ice pick or crush them in a plastic bag before i would try and blend them. This ninja can crush large ice cubes- it does work best to crush ice first before adding the other liquid smoothie drink ingredients.
Clean up is very easy as the blades come out and the pitcher and bowl rinse out quite easily.
You do need to take care in lining up the blades (they stack on top of each other, and lightly twist to lock together, and be careful not to nick yourself). and you need to MAKE SURE the rubber sealing ring is in tightly. others have commented that if it's loose, you'll have rubber parts in your drinks. And also the liquids will probably slosh up into the motor which may damage the motor. And you have to get used to the feel of getting the lids on right. they don't really twist into place, you kind of have to set it on top and push them down just so. it does take a little used to getting the feel, as well as making sure you're setting the pod motor on top just right. So don't rush it, make sure everything feels secure before you start pulsing. And also, you'll get used to how long/ short your pulses should be. To be safe, start with slow pulses and keep checking your consistency. It's designed that way, and not designed to be used in constant "On" position like a traditional blender. The large lid on the blender does seem to trap food in the narrow edges, so try to rinse these out soon after blending.
