Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Euro Cuisine Automatic Yogurt Maker, White.Customer Review: Fantastic Summary: 5 Stars
Great product!!!
You need a thermometer---I use an electric one with a probe on a cable, and you are all set.
Buy the set of extra jars and lids, and as well, do not use yogurt as a starter, but buy the cultures, which are available in the grocery store, health foods, and in the cooler.
Just make plain, use 1% milk. I set mine to incubate about 7 hours, then put on lids and throw in fridge. Add fresh fruit, granola etc after it is done and you have emptied into a jar. It tastes great, is better for you than in the store.
The auto shut off feature is a must.
Customer Review: temperature too hot, ruining my yogurt Summary: 2 Stars
After ruining about 10 batches of yogurt and tearing my hair out trying to figure out why, I found out--the temperature of this yogurt maker is too hot. It seems to be ok during the middle of incubation, but toward the end gets too hot. I just tested my yogurt at the end of incubation last night and it was 117 degrees. No wonder it's curdling!
It's too bad because it's well-designed. I suggest that before trying yogurt, put water in the jars, set it for 7 hours, then test the temperature at the END of the 7 hours to make sure it's well under 110. Otherwise you'll have baby barf yogurt like I do.
Customer Review: Works well--worth the effort? Summary: 4 Stars
This yogurt maker did make yogurt well. However, it takes about twelve hours to "cook" the yogurt (this is not exceptional to this product: they all take that long) and so one has to eat a lot of yogurt to make it mare practical than just buying yogurt at the store. Since it's all natural and does not have any preservatives in it, you have to eat it fairly soon after making it. After the novelty wore off, I went back to buying yogurt at the store. The store yogurt usually tastes better than what I made too. Again, though, if you really want to make your own yogurt, this machine makes it well.
Customer Review: Yogurt not working Summary: 3 Stars
I'm still trying to get yogurt we can eat. The first couple of batches were way too tart. I've read all the reviews on other recipes and finally had a really good yogurt. But, when I used one jar of the yogurt I made as starter, it came out like milk. I don't know why, but making my own is costing a lot since I have thrown out more than I've eaten. I wish they had better recipes in the book that came with it. Don't have any idea why this last batch never thickened. I put in the machine for 8.5 hours and then in the refigerator overnight. Can anyone help?
Customer Review: Apology to Euro Cuisine Summary: 5 Stars
Euro Cuisine Automatic Yogurt Maker - YM100.
I wrote a negative review for the above, because I did not understand the electronic timer workings. Thought it did not work, when it was me who did not realize, how it works. Whas I surpriced, when a very nice fellow from Euro-Cuisine called me and explained it to me. A real treat in this day and age! After trying his suggestions, the YM-100 works flawlessly and I love it. I tried to delete my earlier review - but could not find it. Anyway, I enthusiasticly recommend this Yogurt Maker and Euro-Cuisine.
