Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Escali Primo Digital Multifunctional Scale

Customer Review: Great product!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this scale over a year ago, primarily for use in crafts, but I've recently taken up cooking in a serious way and it has made its way into the kitchen with me. It's absolutely fabulous, whatever I'm using it for. The tare feature, in particular, is wonderful, as is the ability to jump from imperial to metric units at will. I've been delighted since I first opened the box.
I tend to categorize purchases in my head as "sorry I bought it", "not sorry I bought it", and "great buy". This was definitely a "great buy".

Customer Review: It works, price was right
Summary: 4 Stars

Unlike most people, I didn't purchase this for use with food. However, it works fine and come in handy. I certainly wouldn't drop it or bang it anywhere as it seems quite fragile, but otherwise I can't complain much. The three measuring modes with the tare feature are nice to have, and it included batteries. I don't know how accurate it is since I didn't buy any calibration weights (and really for $25 it'll be within +/- a couple of grams I'd bet) but for my needs it seems fine. Made in China, of course.

Customer Review: broken after ~1 month
Summary: 1 Stars

This scale seemed great, and at a great price. I used it modestly for a little more than one month, and now it reads "out2" and doesn't work. The Escali website says, "Out2 is displayed when too much force (i.e. overload) has affected, and potentially damaged the loadcell". No elephants in my kitchen... the last time I used it was while making a normal sized batch of bread - I was weighing out the loaves prior to proofing. I turned it off, wiped it clean (no excessive use of water) and put it away.

Customer Review: Accurate and Easy to Use
Summary: 5 Stars

I just decided to test the scales accuracy. I placed my wrist watch on it and then went to work and placed my watch on a scientific (accurate to the 4th decimal) laboratory scale. The Home scale read 140 grams the lab scale read 140.2 grams. That's more good enough for me!

In terms of use I found the scale to be extremely intuitive and easy to use. It runs on two AA batteries and has an automatic shutoff that clicks in after 4 minutes.

All in all well worth the price.

Customer Review: Very inaccurate
Summary: 1 Stars

After reading so many positive reviews, I was surprised and disappointed by what arrived in the mail today - a flimsy and inaccurate piece of equipment. It's made of thin, bendable plastic and was not nearly as solid as it looks in the photos. Worse, the scale is not even close to accurate. I put a certified 30gm weight onto the scale - which registered five grams. I tried several other items, all registering weights that were wildly off-base.

I'll be sending this back!
