Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Escali Primo Digital Multifunctional ScaleCustomer Review: Wore out too quickly. Summary: 4 Stars
*** EDITED & UPDATED REVIEW ***
I originally gave this scale 4 stars and thought it was great. It makes mostly precise measurements, and supposedly allows measurement down to 1 gram. I purchased it at the end of February, and it is now August, so I've had the scale for a little over 5 months, and it is already worn out and almost broken.
1.) The plastic around the on/off button separated and tore, allowing food/water to get inside the mechanism. I think all these scales should have waterproofing included in the design; after all, they are for kitchen use.
2.) The scale has never weighed correctly - it jumps measurements. For example, it jumps from 0.24 ounces to 0.28 ounces. What about .25, .26, and .27? It does this over and over, in many different increments. If the scale is so imprecise, they should have just listed it as measuring in 5 gram increments.
3.) After about 3 1/2 months, the scale started showing incorrect measurements, and parts of the lcd display disappear off and on. I've replaced the batteries several times, to no avail. It seems that the scale is simply worn out, after only 3-4 months!
4.) I contacted Escali, hoping to take advantage of the warranty that was supposedly included with my purchase, but they have not responded to me.
I am not happy with this product and would not purchase again. I'm going to try the "Eat Smart" scale next, hoping for a better result. Amazon will not let me change the "star" rating, but if I could, I'd change it to 1 or 2 stars.

The pros:
(1.) Scarily accurate. I weigh everything I eat, and was surprised to find that my old scale, a Cuisinart that I thought was accurate, was not nearly as precise as this Escali - and the Cuisinart cost $20 more! The Escali is a **great buy for the price.**
(2.) Stays on longer than some scales, allowing you to add more food as needed. The flip side - you have to hold the power button forever to get it to shut off.
The cons:
(1.) The digital readout could be angled downward a little more, for ease of reading when you have a plate on top of the scale.
(2.) Takes a little too long to process the weight, when I'm in a hurry.
(3.) Jumps over some measurements. For instance, in weighing 1/4 of an ounce, it jumps from 0.24 to 0.28 EVERY TIME, no matter how slowly I add the food. What happened to 0.25, 26, 27? It does this for several measurements, but I can say I get more accurate readings when I use the "gram" function, versus "ounces."
(4.) Definitely read the directions, because when it says to add product slowly - they mean it!
For $20, this was a great buy. I'd definitely buy it again.
