My last Field-Bred English Springer Spaniel boy, Buddy, had ear infection problems, but only after I realized that dogs with spaniel-type ears that hang down, need special ear attention and cleaning; Every two weeks is best. Buddy lived a happy 17 years but could have done without the ear infection problems had I been more aware that regular cleaning with the excellent product Epi-Otic would have helped prevent the occurance of infection.
Now I have two beautiful girl Field-Bred English Springer Spaniels who are both sitting next to me as I write this. I started them on regular ear inspection at puppy stage and they love for me to keep their ears clean with Epi-Otic. Epi-Otic drys the ears as well as keeps them sparkling clean. I both 'swish it around' (a vet can show you how to do that by massaging the ear) and use cotton balls to lightly dry the excess when done with the swishing. I don't think I will ever have problems with ear infections or mites because now that I am aware of how to care for my dog's ears, and with the great product Epi-Otic, we are on top of the situation. Epi-Otic is also a pleasure to use because it has the scent of fresh apple blossoms which is a nice touch.
A great product, and even a necessary product for owners of dogs who have ears that hang down over the ear canal.
Description of Epi-Otic Ear Cleaner 16 oz.
Used for routine ear cleaning in dogs and cats of all ages. With the active ingredients of lactic acid, salicylic acid, chitosanide, PCMX, propylene glycol, and sodium docusate. It removes debris and dead tissues while being cleansing, drying and non irritating. Great for cleaning moist, waxy and foul odor ears. Dosage: Apply liberally into the ear canal. Gently rub base of ear and wipe the ear flap with cotton. May be used daily or as directed by your veterinarian.Kitchen and Housewares
