Scale purchased for use in kitchen, also for the odd needlework project. Fine gradation weighing in grams, large capacity of 5 kilos helped me choose this model. Like the positive click buttons, so you know when your finger has registered. Also completely happy with tare feature - only occasionally does a container hide the readout display; don't know how you could fix that unless the readout was a separate box.
I have a very small kitchen - only about 4 square feet of workspace - and being able to pop this tiny unit into a container on the side of the frig out of the way is a big plus. Finally, I just packed the unit and brought it to the beach with me - it weighs almost nothing, so no trouble to have it along on the trip.

Recently purchased this scale based on great review from other user. I found the product is cheaply make, the button is very flimsy, and I had hard time to press it (sometimes). Once the "on/off" button was stuck a a way I can no longer press it. Took me awhile to get the button back to it's "normal" position so I can use it again. Definitely cheaply made. My pocket scale I bought has much much better quality.
Another thing I don't like about this scale is the "gram" setting has no decimal. So if an item I'm weighting is in between two integers (for example 100.5), the scale will keep jumping between 100, 101. The ounce mode has 2 decimals, so I'm sure they can have at least one decimal in the "gram" mode.

We have enjoyed using the EatSmart kitchen scale to help with holiday baking. Many of our recipes are scaled down versions from my grandfather's bakery--as you know the pros do everything by weight!--and the scale makes it a snap to parse out the correct amount of ingredients. It's also been a great lesson to show the kids that volume and weight are totally different things. They also like using the Tare function and then watching the numbers go up as we add more to the bowl. The numbers are easy to read and the scale wipes clean in a jiffy (soooo many little floury fingerprints!) We haven't had to replace batteries yet, but I'm happy that they are AAAs and not some crazy disk battery that I have to search for high and low.Customer Review: Good little kitchen scale

After reading other people's reviews of different kitchen scales, I opted to go with this product because it had gotten good reviews. I have only used it a couple of times, but I can tell you that it is very easy to use and it is very accurate. Having baked professionally for many years, I wanted to recreate some of my items at home on a smaller scale and now I am capable of making the same product at home. I highly recommend this scale because of the different options it gives you to weigh ingredients in. Now I can actually make some of my recipes even if they're in metric weight and my recipes come out better now that I'm weighing the ingredients rather than using a measuring cup. When I first started looking into digital scales I was overwhelmed by the number of scales and prices available. My original thinking was the more expensive an item is the better. After years of wasting money and time on products that don't meet the grade, I've found that more expensive isn't always better. The only way I purchase items now is to read the reviews of people who have really used these products. The EatSmart scale is a sturdy, quality product for a fantastic price and is highly rated by users. I love the tare feature. The compact size and shape is great for storage and can accomodate a variety of container sizes. Very pleased with this product and would highly recommend this scale to anyone.
