This review is based on my first-hand experience with the scale.
This scale will weigh items in four different units of measure - grams, ounces, pounds, and kilograms. The level of precision this scale uses for the four different units is as follows:
1 gram
0.05 ounces
0.002 pounds
0.001 kilograms
Tested using items that I have, whose weight is already known, this scale is very accurate. The large digit display is easy to read.
This scale responds quickly to added ingredients. I've used other scales that responded very slowly to the addition of ingredients, which makes it easy to overshoot quantities when adding items to your work bowl.
It uses two AAA batteries instead of a button-cell battery. This makes it easy to use rechargeable batteries if you want to.
This scale is advertised as having a 3-minute auto-off feature. I used a stopwatch with repeated trials, and this scale does turn itself off after exactly three minutes of not using it (no change in weight). This 3-minute timer resets itself every time you add more weight to the scale. Three minutes after the addition of the last ingredient (or removal of everything completely from the scale), the scale will shut itself off.
You can always shut it off manually with the on/off/tare button.
The tare function is self-explanatory, but for those who don't know, it simply resets the scale to 'zero' weight without having to remove your work bowl, to help facilitate adding more measured ingredients to the bowl. The tare button is used for zeroing out the scale when there is weight already on it. Pressing it a second time will turn the scale off.
The scale does read 'negative' weight. If you zero out the scale with weight on it, and then remove that weight from the scale, it will read a 'negative' weight on the display rather than giving you an error-type message.
