Customer Review: Amazing Scale for Type 1 Diabetes
Summary: 5 Stars

As a mother of a Type 1 Diabetic Child measuring foods and count carbs is an everyday way of life. This scale has made our lives a thousand times easier. It's a must have for anyone with Diabetes. Before this we tried out 2 other kitchen scales. While they were great at measuring food we still needed to go the extra step and calculate all the carbs ourselves using a calculator. This scale does all that for you! 80-90% of the food we measure is in the food database stored in the scales memory. So all we do is use the included book, key in the 3 digit food code and all the calculating is done for you. For the occasional times the food is not in the database we change the mode to caluculate, input the nutritional info from the food packaging and it does the calculations for you. It is extremly accurate, In the beginning we tested the accuracy by still using our old scale and caluculator method. This scales carb reading were on par with what we caluculated manually. A huge time saver!!! People are right about the customer service, when I called with a question the owner answered the phone. We've had this scale for 2 1/2 years now it has never given us a problem!!

Customer Review: accurate and helpful scale
Summary: 4 Stars

I previously had the Salter nutritional scale. It worked fine, when it worked. It started going crazy - with numbers going up and down even when nothing was on the scale. The only way to fix it was to take everything off, turn it over and disconnect the battery. Finally even that didn't always work. So i looked for a new scale and settled on the Eat Smart scale. It works well measuring foods and is easy to use. There are a few things I don't care for. #1 the labels at the bottom for calories, fat, carbs, etc. are very small and sometimes hard to read. #2 the scale takes 2 or 3 seconds to register weight. This can be frustrating when pouring something into a bowl because you have to stop and wait to see what the weight is. I am getting used to it, though. I just pour slowly and wait for the scale to register the weight.

The scale looks very nice. I like the feature that lets me enter the nutritional facts from any label and get the figures for the food weighed on the scale. As long as this scale keeps working I think I will enjoy using it. If they had made the labels on the calculations larger it would have been perfect.

Customer Review: Easy to use tool for losing weight!
Summary: 5 Stars

After considering several different nutrition scales, I chose the EatSmart Digital Nutrition Scale because of the great reviews it had, both on Amazon as well as other websites. I had decided to purchase a nutrition scale in order to facilitate my weight loss efforts by counting all of my calories. This scale is a breeze to use and the accompanying book is amazing for calculating the calories in everything I eat. It really is a wonderful bonus that it has listings of both cooked and raw foods and makes measuring pasta sooo easy! All you do is put the food on the scale, look up the 3 digit code for that food and punch it in and it gives you the calorie count as well as some other important nutritional information. I've been amazed by the actual portion sizes and amount of calories in all the foods I eat (both higher and lower!). The tare feature is great and a MUST for measuring foods. I've been using this for 3 weeks and I use it for everything since it only takes a few moments to measure. I would highly recommend this product to anyone considering purchasing a nutrition scale to accompany their weight loss efforts - It has really opened my eyes.

Customer Review: Absolutely First-Rate!
Summary: 5 Stars

Unlike other food scales I've used, this one is absolutely accurate and consistent. It is sturdy, attractive, and easy to use. The scale would benefit any serious cook, as well as anyone with concerns about their weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, or any other condition affected by food intake.
The hundreds of food codes cover an amazing array of edibles - even baked potato [skins only], one of my favorite foods! Red and yellow sweet peppers are listed separately, because they have slightly different nutritional values.
And I can enter the label quantity of nutrients in a prepackaged food, then weigh how much I want to eat, and get exact measurements instead of guesstimates of calories, carbs, fat, sodium, fiber, and seven other nutrients. No more trying to use measuring cups and spoons to scoop the precise "serving size" out of the pot, and working to get every last bit on to the plate - I measure what I am actually about to eat, and have an accurate count of everything of interest to me.
The EatSmart Digital Nutrition Scale is worth every penny and more to anyone who is serious about nutritional content.

Customer Review: A practical tool to manage your health
Summary: 4 Stars

With a recommendation from my RD, I bought the scale as a Christmas gift to myself. I am using the scale to learn the carb count method to manage my diabetic control. I have been controlling my blood sugar at a pretty good level (average A1C at about 6.7 for the last five years). I want to achieve even better control for my blood sugar. The scale is exactly the tool to help me to achieve my goal.
The scale itself is good and very practical. Although one can calculate 12 nutrients from the 999 foods programmed into the scale's memory, there is a significant drawback about the food lists. All the foods in the list are in a simple form. It can tell you the nutrients from mushroom,-white-microwaved, or bacons-baked, or pork-sirloin,-boneless- roasted. However, it cannot tell you the nutrients for "complex" cooking. For example, there is no way to find out a homemade beef stew, that contains many ingredients (carrot, celery, potato, green bean, pea, etc).

Nevertheless, the scale is good toll for anyone who wants to learn more about healthy eating. I have only used it less than a month. I already love it.
