Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Durgol Express Multipurpose DecalcifierCustomer Review: Good but Pricey Summary: 4 Stars
I'm very picky about my coffee - I don't like it bitter. I use a percolator. I thought I would try a decalcifier to clean my percolator just to see how it works so I ordered this. I ran it through a cycle using a cup of decalcifier and a cup of water and it cleaned great and the coffee tasted wonderful afterwards. The only drawback is the price. There only seems to be about 2 cups in the bottle, so I would only get to use this twice. If you drink a lot of coffee, as I do, you know that your percolator or drip machine or whatever you use needs to be cleaned at least once every two weeks because bitter coffee oils build up quickly. That means I would need a bottle each month. I'm definitely not spending that much for this product, but I can see myself using it a couple of times a year because it does clean more effectively than vinegar.
Customer Review: Worked Great for Hot Water Boiler Summary: 5 Stars
Our office has a hot water boiler which boils about 6 gallons of water per day for drinking. After about 7 months of use and no real upkeep, the inside of the water boiler was crusted over with calcification and was shelved since bits of the calcification were dropping off into the water. Another office mate tried to clean the inside with another cleaner and it barely scratched the surface.
One use of this following all the instructions and the water boiler was ready for use again - everything looked as shiny and new as the day we first purchased it. We now maintain the boiler with regular vinegar rinses, but will probably do this once a year to really get everything shiny again. As an added bonus, as we were rinsing into the sink, the sink and tools we were using polished up nicely as well!
Customer Review: Durgol Decalcifier Summary: 5 Stars
I bought a Capresso glass electric tea kettle and used for the first time spring water as I do prefer this than filtered drinking water for coffee and tea. After several uses, the chrome heating element became so corroded, and this spring water is bottled by the way, so I was forced to do some research.
On Amazon I found the above product and tried it. WOW, after following the directions, within a few minutes the chrome bubble in the glass carafe was shiny and new.
I was so impressed I then used it in my Meile washing machine, again very impressive, laundry came out lovely. By the way, the bottle doesn't say any thing about using it in a washer. In the UK, I can buy Calgon Tablets for this. Here in USA, I could not find Calgon at all for my washer.
Highly recommend this product.
Customer Review: Magical! Summary: 5 Stars
I'm reluctant to admit I had neglected the regular maintenance of my Carezza espresso machine for a year or two. While waiting for the Durgol Decalcifier to arrive in the mail, I flushed the machine with vinegar and cleaned the parts as described to get the cleaning process started. The machine still didn't work right. This Durgol product arrived today and I again flushed the machine according to directions, using this decaldifier. I'm amazed at the amount of sludge and disgusting grime that came out! This product is wonderful and has restored my espresso maker.
Customer Review: Worked with Tassimo Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased this for descaling a Bosch Tassimo coffee-maker. Followed the instructions and diluted one cup of descaler with one cup of water. Ran through the descaling process (don't use more than 2 cups total mix - the Tassimo won't take any more than that). First time, it didn't solve the descaling problem and the red light stayed on (the red light should go off before you do the rinse sequence). Ran the descaling process a second time and it worked just fine. So it took the whole bottle this time, but it did the job.
