I bought this a few weeks ago because I could not get a Salton 1 qt. yogurt maker like the one I had used for years -- the temperature control went bad on it.
I read the reviews about the jarsbefore I purchased this. I cannot fathom the design for them. I used to have a Salton 6 jar (white porcelain) yogurt maker and they were easy to clean up. In fact, I still use them for other things about about 30 years +/-. But these jars need soaking several hours, and even though I have a number of brushes, none seem to fit these jars.
I saw nothing in the literature that said to use the rack to put the jars into. I thought the rack might be for transportation of the unit to the seller because it was so flimsy looking. But after making a few loads, I noticed that the yogurt on the bottom was quite dry, probably due to the bottom heat of the unit, so I will have to use the rack; luckily I save everything at least 30 days.
I would really like to have a top-of-the-line yogurt maker - I don't need a timer on one. BTW, the timer alarm on this one is so faint that one would have to be in the same room to hear it.
Also, pouring the yogurt mixture into the jars can really be a messy chore because of the small openings.
