Customer Review: Sorry Delonghi.....Not A Good Product!!

I did my homework and I thought I was buying a great table top indoor grill to cook chicken and steaks to replace a different brand that had just died on me. Well, I was very disappointed when I used it the first time and "tried" to grill pork chops. It took forever (much longer than the manual stated) and I had the temp setting at the highest. They finally did get done but were not very tasty and dried out because I had to cook them so long. My opinion is that because the grill is open on the bottom to the drip pan and the eating element is underneath....much of the heat goes down and not up to the food on top.It was, however, easy to clean which was good because I packed it up and shipped it back the next day.
Sorry Delonghi, back to the drawing board.

I grilled shrimp the first time around, absoulutly delicious. And I grilled veges, again very good. And steak, chicken and fish. All excellent. A great part of a healthier lifestyle. Just don't forget to put the water in the bottom pan! Otherwise, you may not get any cooked food. (It only took me a short while to figure that out). And I bought the unit precisly because it has a lid, so I use it (keeps splatters down in the kitchen very well). I wanted a unit that I could potentially use as a contact grill as well but that also had some type of lid. Well, my contact piece is a heavy cast iron 'grill marker' that would also be used in a cast iron pan or on an outdoor grill. As long as it doesn't fall onto the teflon pan, there is no damage. I bought this grill so that I could improve the foods I eat and how they are prepared! My experience is that it doesn't smoke at all - it heats up very well and cooks beautifully. I've cooked steak, chicken, pork chops, fish filets, vegetables, Boca burgers ... and all have been a delight.
I love the no splatter glass lid, the sturdy frame and the hardy grill surface. I have found that, for small amounts of food, if you cook at the end away from the heating control you can submerge that end in dishwater and the mess just wipes away.
I look forward to cooking on this grill and the effort to take care of it is nothing ... especially if you line the drip pan with foil. But even when you forget ... it just wipes clean!!

Pros: The grill is much better than one of those grills that you close the lid on and squeezes the juices out. The grill is ideal for cooking boneless cuts of meats, sausages, and fish fillets. Grilling lines are easily achieved during searing. Results are the same as cooking on an outdoor gas grill.
Clean up is relatively easy. Putting tin foil is better than adding water to the drip pan; it's harder to clean up/dispose of the water mess. You must have a good non- scratching brush for cleaning the grill surface.
Cons: Only 1500 watts. Meats with bones do not cook evenly.
Bottom line: Great indoor grill for certain types of meat, poultry, and fish/seafood (shrimp). Would recommend purchasing.

My husband and I got this as a wedding present and we LOVE it! I cooked pork chops that I had marinated and they were the best that I have ever cooked! They were so moist and tender! I simply followed the cooking instructions in the manual and they cooked perfect! They tasted so much better than when I have cooked them on the stove top or when I baked them. I was reading some of the negative reviews about how they think it's stupid that you have to cook with the glass top on. If they would have read their manuals, it actually tells you not to cook with the top on. The only time I use the top is when I am trying to keep something warm until the rest of my meal is done. I am so glad we got this grill! It is wonderful.
