Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Delonghi BG24 Perfecto Indoor GrillCustomer Review: Very solid grill! Summary: 5 Stars
I am a big fan of grilled food, especially steak. I live in a small apartment in NYC so grilling on a gas grill is not an option. I have had a good experience w/ this company's previous indoor grill so I gave this one a shot.
Unlike some of the negative reviews I found that this grill heats up very quickly and is very hot. I cook my stakes Medium-Well like 6 minutes on each side and thats a wrap. To be honest I never use the glass cover, but it is nice to have.
One great thing about this grill is that the surface is indented. That means less grease flying off the grill and onto your counter top. It cleans as easily as can be expected. You just have to be careful not to scrath the cooking surface while cleaning it.
All in all this is a great product and I highly reccomend it!
Customer Review: good indoor grill Summary: 4 Stars
we love to grill out during the summer so we were looking for a good indoor grill to use during the colder months. this delonghi grill works pretty well - much better than, say, a george forman type of grill. what's nice about the delonghi is that it has a surface similar to an outdoor gas grill instead of solid metal plates that have raised bumps to give the "grilled appearance". it does have its limitations though - we can't grill anything like corn on the cob because it doesn't hold in the heat (with the lid on, you only have about a 2 to 3-inch space for food) and it does cook slower than a regular outside grill. it's also pretty time-consuming to clean since you can't submerge the grill itself and food, etc., gets stuck between each bar. however, it does do a really nice job grilling food and keeps everything pretty moist and tender.
Customer Review: Not so great - not terrible. Summary: 3 Stars
Pros:
* big cooking space
* teflon coated parts
* drip pan easy to clean (I put coat of water before cooking - not sure if this affects grilling)
Cons:
* grill plate annoying to clean - not dishwasher safe
* takes up huge amount of counter space - too big to cook for one person
I'm not sure how to rate this - I have only cooked low fat foods so far and came out mediocre - heating element is built into grill plate so not true bbq style - just a heating element with slits to let out the fat. Not sure if its worth the hassle over broiling or frying. I agree with the negative poster's comments on the cover steaming the food - but the cover is good for foods that need to be cooked thoroughly like chicken or pork or for melting cheese. If I can find a cheaper smaller grill I may return it.
Customer Review: Great Indoor Grill Summary: 5 Stars
I have had my grill for a week, we've cooked lean steaks on it, pork chops, and the other night we cooked hamburgers on it. This is my first indoor grill so when one review mentioned the "George Foreman" grill was a bit faster, I was amazed I thought the Delonghi cooked pretty fast!! Clean up was really easy and one MUST remember to preheat it. I gather some have not. And as to smoking I haven't had any but then I buy lean meats and put water in the bottom if I think the food will drip a lot of fat. Fat dripping into the large tray in the bottom is what burns and causes the smoke. I've only used water once, with the hamburgers (no smoking). This really is a great grill and large enough to be more than satisfying (actual cooking space is 15"x11"). Ease and comfort of use is amazing. I highly recommend it!
Customer Review: Grilling all year round Summary: 5 Stars
Once our old grill finally bit the dust we went looking for an alternative.
The Delonghi BG24 Perfecto Indoor Grill is great. Follow the directions; HEAT IT UP for 5 or 10 minutes before you use it. As with most indoor grills it's advisable to use the lid to keep the splatter down and keep the heat in. I was concerned about the height of the lid in the pictures and some comments that it doesn't leave much room for the meat, but unless you are cooking something thicker than about 2" you shouldn't have a problem.
As long as you use the drip tray with some water in it you won't have any smoke issues.
Clean up is a chore, but the way this unit comes apart it's about as friendly as it can be.
All in all, a great product, highly recommended.
