After owning this coffeemaker for three months, I feel compelled to give a review in light of all the negative ones. I've had no problems with this machine. It makes excellent espresso, coffee, and cappuccino. I chose this model because I like an espresso in the morning, an occasional cappuccino, and I wanted a machine that served both my daily needs as a single person and one that would work when I had company. I did not want two separate machines cluttering my counter. I have an espresso every morning and I make a pot of coffee at least once a week. I do recommend that you purchase the correct grind of coffee to get the crema you desire for espresso--I use Illy ground espresso coffee or the Illy moka coffee and various drip grinds for regular coffee. The grind is important. I love not having to worry with paper filters and the gold filter is so easy to clean. I find the espresso filter easy to put in place contrary to another review. I certainly never wait 30 minutes for my morning coffee--5 minutes tops. Lastly, when it comes to coffee, I would prefer to pay for good coffee (function) over looks (form)--although I certainly do not consider this an unattractive unit. It is not stainless steel; it is an everyday coffeemaker and much more attractive than the standard white plastic models that are so prolific at that. If you want stainless steel, go for it and pay more. If your priority is great coffee, espresso, and cappuccino, go for Cafe Nero Combo.

The espresso function starts up quickly without much advanced preparation and has two filter holders--one that uses ground espresso and another that uses coffee pods.
