Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Debbie Meyer Green Bags (20 Pack)Customer Review: I think they are fantastic! Summary: 5 Stars
I was extremely skeptical until I saw my daugher using them when I visited her. I don't know if they last 30 days, but I was there for 2 weeks and the strawberries were just as fresh as when I first arrived. They weren't molded or anything inside or out. The bananas were still yellow and good on the inside after a week. These are things that normally spoil quickly. I bought some when I got home, and my very ripe peaches are still just the way I bought them 6 days ago, ripe and juicy without becoming mushy. Remember to wash your fruits and vegetables before you use them and don't put them wet into the bag!
Customer Review: This is a really great product Summary: 4 Stars
I am not sure why others don't like or have had problems with this product. These bags work great for me. I only put a few items in them at one time. I also make sure that the produce is dry, uncut and kept together based on type (i.e. tomatoes with tomatoes, celery with celery etc.). If you do that, the produce will last at least 3X as long as it would normally. I have not noticed the problem another reviewer noted with the food being good on the outside but bad on the inside. Honestly, these bags have helped me to save the money I'd been throwing away on spoiled/wasted produce. I highly recommend them.
Customer Review: somewhat helpful Summary: 3 Stars
I got some of the DMGB hoping they would help cut down on the waste and stretch my food budget a bit. The results have been mixed.
The biggest single factor I can pinpoint, however, is definitely moisture in the bag. I store all my food with a paper towel in the bag to absorb excess moisture and replace it every 1 -2 days. Doing this, it does last longer than without the bag. So it's not exactly a miracle out of the box, and results are not consistent across the board. But for expensive fresh fruits and veggies, it's worth the effort to me to extend their life by keeping the inside of the bag dry.
Customer Review: Green bags are the smartest kitchen choice I've ever made Summary: 5 Stars
Using these bags saves me from wasting the foods I buy. In the past, I've thrown out more than I ate and it has cost me a lot of money. Since I found these, I decided that the money they save me will even out if I start buying fresh, organic foods. Not only do I feel healthier than ever for switching the produce I consume, but it comes at almost no cost. The bags are washable and reusable, and they really do extend the life of all of the produce I buy. It's quite remarkable, and I'm going to start handing them out as gifts.
I hope you'll give them a try, because they really have helped me.
Customer Review: They Work - Period Summary: 4 Stars
Not sure of the poor reviews on this, Perhaps they're in a different climate or the food isn't that great to begin with, not really sure, How they work for some and not for others. I have been using them for over a year and I love 'em, I blend my Bananas most of the time, so the 7+ days don't really matter too much, they are not brown inside at all though. They aren't as firm as when you buy them, but they're a lot better a week later than without the bag.
And for lettuce they are great, tomatoes too. I do save money, there's no doubt about that, I don't throw my fruit and veggies away any more.
